World eBook Fair 2009 - Established in 2006, the World eBook Fair (WeBF) is produced by the World Public Library Association with the goal to create equal access to knowledge and opportunity, especially to improve student achievement but also to provide access to a huge collection of eBooks worldwide for a month.
Hello mimpi. It is an informative discussion that book lovers can download books free of charge with the link offered. My teen son loves to download some e-books to his MP4 to read in his spare time after school. He does is every so often. It is good and beneficial to the readers to have the chance to download some e-books on the Internet because it is friendly to the environment and it is much more convenient to book-lovers. Have a good day, mimpi.

Thank you for the information. I love to read! I haven't read any ebooks, but there is a first time for everything. With the price of books these days, especially new books, it is worth it to get free ebooks to enjoy later on.

eBooks are good if you consider the expense of real books. These days we get almost anything on internet. However, I find it extremely difficult to read on monitor for along stretch. Will buy a eBook reader soon. Happy Reading!

Hi Mimpi! I would love to download books of my choice. However, would you please tell me how much MB/GB would be consumed to download a book, if I do so from my home PC. I opened the site but could not understand how to go for my choice of book. Will it be worthwhile to join this site paying annual fees of $ 8.95?

These books are of PDF format and doesn't take much space. You do not need to pay for it. The offer is valid till AUG4. You can download anything within that time. I would suggest you to go to the second and third links (above) and browse through the collection. Tell your children. It would be useful.

Hi mimpi, Just wondering - aren't those books already available free on those sites with or without the ebook fair? I have the impression they are a collection of stuffs that have run past their copyright date. No...?

You could be right Wizzy, I have little idea about legal affairs. They flash on their home page that the offer is valid till AUG4. So, I am not sure. We can however get innumerable such free eBooks from other sites as well.

No idea. Maybe they put it in pdf format instead of just html on site. I know I have checked out project Gutenberg before and I don't see any "readable" stuff there. A lot really has to do with what you are looking for. I go for fantasy and science fiction and there isn't really much good ones off copyright.

But Mimpi, I don't get your question! Don't you just use the e.g. free adobe reader to read your ebooks? Aren't all ebooks in pdf format?

I still prefer real books to ebooks. I still have some ebooks I downloaded that are sitting forever on my desktop and I just can't make myself read them. Yet for real books, they have been read and replaced many times...

I agree but books are expensive here these days. may be you are a rich person. . For this reason, my next gadget would be eBook Reader after which I guess it would be easier to read them.

I did not know of this. I don't have a Kindle, and my ink is almost gone. I'm not sure I want to use enough memory on my pc for a whole book, but oh how I wish I had enough ink to do it that way!

That is a huge selection to choose from Mimpi . There are a lot of subjects that i would be keen to download books to keep for reading and for the purpose of reference. These would range from light reading like short stories to metaphysics, environment and more. These are great links and thanks so much for sharing them.

I am sure you will get your choice of selection there. I have downloaded some archaic, old and unanonymous poems which date back to along long time. Now, I am trying to little methodical with the preservation. I do need a book reader next to read those while moving.
