The Ceiling Has Fallen

Really!! I was sitting on the sofa minding my own business when a loud crashing sound erupts from the garage. Seems a section of ceiling decided to land on my dryer and freezer. Hubby and I looked at it and he said he had wanted to take a nap this afternoon. So I told him it would still be there later. So, he's napping. I did work on sweeping up some of the insulation that came down with the ceiling. Anybody else's house falling apart?

Oh my goodness! Thank goodness no-one was underneath it when it fell! I love your philosophy - it will be there to clear up later! My house is not falling apart yet. My world is in a bit of a turmoil but that's positive as it had been a bit stationary of late!

So...turmoil is good if it's moving you in the right direction?

Uhm.... can I pass on that? I'll get back to you in a few months (did I say months? ) and let you know whether it is/was the right direction or not

Sorry to hear that your house is falling apart. I had problems just over a year ago when my electricity box just blew up. Luckily it didn't set the house on fire! The house needed a total rewire, which was really disruptive. It seems there is always something that needs doing in this house!

Anything with electricity kind of scares me. My husband will replace stuff and run new wires, but he's not an electrition so I wonder how safe it is. Nothing has gone out or started a fire though. I'm sure that was a pain to have to rewire the entire house. Did it take long?

I wouldn't mind the redecorating if it weren't for the cost.

Yes it took quite a while, and made a huge mess. The house just needed totally gutting. I did have some fun redecorating though. Electricians did all the work, so no-one risked their life or anything.

This happened to my nephew's house that he lives in with his mom and step dad. My former sister in law was sitting in a chair reading a newspaper when all of a sudden half the livingroom ceiling came crashing into her lap! She screamed at Gordon, her hubby, who came running to find her covered in plaster and paint.

Oh my I hope she wasn't injured. What a shock to have the ceiling fall on top of you. I'm grateful ours happened in the garage and not inside the house. Hope you are doing ok, carpenter.

Yes, ours is my son started to remodel, he has found areas in our roof ready to fall down. Our house flooring is falling down and needs to be jacked up. I guess we all have some work that needs to be done unless you have a new house. Have a blessed day.

Yes, he can fix it, that is what he does for a living, construction. He is going to do the floor too. He says this is what you find in older houses that has settled. Have a blessed day.

We just recently had work done on our foundation. They dug under the slab and jacked up the foundation. Will your son be able to fix the roof?

This part of the ceiling is part of the attic and only some of the attic is floored. Seems some things that had been stored on the floored part fell over to the un-floored part and so were resting on the ceiling.
