I have three, one daytime one nighttime, and one latino telenovella.Dallas is my all time favorite. And then there is As The World Turns.I saw every episode of Dallas. It was the one thing I looked forward to on Friday nights. The Who shot J.R. cliffhanger was so great. It was the first and last time I dreaded the summer and wanted it to hurry up and be fall.As The World Turns had great , real life storylines. The villains had soft sides and there was a little evil in the heroes.Tom and Margo and Lily and Holden were my favorite couples. And in 1996,I saw Marisol. It was a great latino soap.I know just enough Spanish to follow along.it had a great storyline. What is your favorite soap?

I haven't watched any in years...but I do remember Dallas very well! I loved it and then there was the one with the Carrington's in it..with Crystal and Alexis...that one really rocked. If it were a day time one it would be general hospital....is Monica etc still on there? I wonder. I'll have to check it out and see whose all still alive!

Yeah, I watched the Friday Night primetime soaps too!!! Dallas and Falcon Crest! THey kids went to their rooms, and 9-10:00 was my time! I didn't start watching Dalles until the "Who Shot JR" cliffhanger boiled all summer long and remember being in church one friday night for a special service and someone menioned "boy, there isn't many here tonight" and I said "They are all probably home watching the "Who Shot JR" cliffhanger resolution!".... isn't that a really stupid useless thing to have remembered after all these years.. but I do.. for some odd (really odd!) reason. But after that I tuned in to see what all the comotion was all about.. and got hooked... I loved Ray the best and couldn't stand bobbie!!! And Flacon Crest came on after so I just stay tuned!!! IT was really good and I liked it better than Dallas. THen Dynasty came around and since I like John Forsythe... and the wicked Joan Collins was so intriging... I tuned in and after they got past the Fallon parts...it got interesting.. then they got to many weird characters and just went over board and I got annoyed with it so I stopped watching.

Hi sarahruthbeth, my favourite soap for years was 'Coronation Street' which I have no idea if it was ever shown in your part of the world. It's an institution in the UK and has been going for must be around 40 years I'd guess. Last time I saw it it even had someone still in it from the first episode and he's probably still there to this day - imagine playing the same character for all that time. I've given it up now as we don't get it out here.

Most of the serials I used to see were already mentioned in the discussion. There used to be some "Natakam" programmes after News at 8:00. If u remember, in these Natakams the entire drama takes place in a single room, the characters moving in and out of the room. They were not great entertaining like serials, but I used to watch them. Some other serials I remember are "Sitaramula cinema gola", "anando Brahma". I also used to watch "Sumanjali" to know the next week movie.

We have a soap here in the States that started on the radio and then came to t.v. It is the Guiding Light. Back when I was watching it , therre was a character who was the original actresswho played her charcter. I haven't watched in years , I don't know if she is still there.

I am going to have to cheat and have 2 favourites. I grew up watching Dallas and so wish it was still running today. I miss all those characters, Sue Ellen, Booby, Ray etc etc and would just be happy for re-runs to be shown so I could get my weekly fix. Out of the current crop of Soaps here in the UK it has to be Emmerdale as although it often touches on serious social issues it is also at times quite comical.

When I was a teenager they were All My Children, One Life to Live, and General Hospital. When I was in my 20 and 30 I never missed an episode of Dallas, Dynasty, Knots Landing or Falcon Crest. Now as a grown woman in my 50's I still like and only watch All My Children.

I don't take the time to view the soaps on a regular basis, however the one that is always in my house is young and the restless. From a baby I have been seeing victor and nicky remarry then again they all seem to marry each other and I see the kids grow too quickly. I saw when victoria and nicholas was born and now they are older than me. HUm. Now I think it is going to interesting they have sharon pregnant for nick but nick back with phyliss. What is with that crazy woman and jack. I hope billie get with that girl. And last bring crazy drucilla back.

I hate it when the "grow" the children up so quickly. I guess they need the young storylines.I think Victor and Nicky are going to get together.they belong together.

I really like Neighbours but of the American soaps I like The Bold and Beautiful although I am getting a little sick of the Brook Ridge and Taylor back and forth thing...but I wish I could stop watching the Bold because it makes me so angry that they are all so judgemental in that show and they are usually judging the others for doing the same thing they are doing...and i often hear myself saying..." what about you" hahahahah soaps!

I only have one that I have ever been intrested in.That is Days of Our Lives.I don't care a whole for it now because the story lines are ridiculous. There is a lot of new people on there now and a lot of the older ones have gone off.

I have two favorites. Mostly because I grew up watching them. The first is Guiding Light and the second one is Days of our Lives. Not the days that is on now, but what they did in the 90's. I just loved picking up the tv and turning it on to the channel and watching it every single day. And Now its like weeks go by and you can guess what is going on from day to day.
