Would you choose to live near the beach or on the top of the mountains?

I know many of us dream of having a house near the beach, where we could spend our summer everytime or just relax whenever we want to..I know describing it is the ultimate lifestyle a person could ever dream of.Though living near the beach is also very tough. Why?Reasons are because one, houses near the beach are those ones oftenly being affected or sometimes even destroyed by the storms and two,you never know when there will be a tsunami like what happened here in Asia last December 2006 wherein many lives were ended and many countries were affected specially Indonesia.I could almost imagine how it would be if I've been there that time. Secondly, some also dream of living in the mountain tops where they could spend nice and quiet time with nature,to think and also to relax.Describing it also seems like the ultimate lifestyle we all wanted. But there also some downsides of living in the mountain tops.Reasons are one, houses here are also those ones being affected and even destroyed more by the storm and two,landslides..most mountains are very prone to landslides which we also don't know when will come. I guess everywhere isn't that safe huh?But if you were to choose, which one will you live in to?

yes, nowhere are you completely safe from the vagaries of nature. However, if I had to choose, I would definitely choose the beach mainly coz I am so scared of the cold! You know how perfect the weather is at the sea side…all warm and sunny and you can really enjoy both the summer and the winter. Coastal regions are often spared the extremes of temperature and that is what I like about them. Mountain sides are too cold in winter and the summer is very short….so though the mountains look so beautiful in spring and summer, I dislike their long drab winter.

You're absolutely right, living here in the mountains is really cold and we have short summer time. Our summer doesn't even look like summer,it's always raining here even during summer.:(

Hello friend, both the options are really very tempting to get rid of the summers. however, I've spent four years of my engineering degree close to a beach, as my college is situated on the western coast of India. Thus, i would rather like to have my home on a mountain where there is no heat. Nothing like spending time with nature. It rejuvinates me.

Well it depends on the situation...I would like to live both as long as it would not be too far from the city proper where I could go whenever there would be an emergency and some important priorities to attend to....

Yes my friend you have a good point there, though there are also some houses with good location as you desire though the price is way too expensive for such place.

me and my soon to be wife dreamed of owning an Island just for the two of us lol in which you could be anywhere near the beach or the mountains well that would be an impossible one since the cost of an island is way too much lol....but still love to be near the beach with no one around only me and my gf...

I would have to pick the beach because in the mountains it will be colder no matter what type of weather. I can't stand the cold. I love the beach, the water, the sand and the sun. So I would build a solid concrete house to weather the storms.

The Lord knows where you are and there is no hiding from Him. When it is your time, it is your time. My husband likes the cooler temps of the mountains and I love the beach. We will probably comprimse and live some where close to relatives and go on a lot of trips when we retire in a few years! happy mylotting!

hiii.........personally i am a very mobile type of person .my choosing of my living place will entirely be on my carrier or my situation on my life or time i am passing.if i am retired from my work i will definitely want to live in hill all alone with my loneliness.. but if i am not retired i will love to live in front of beach because it is full of life..... so that's my option what do u like....

I love the coast and I don't feel happy unless I live near to it. I grew up in a location one and a half hours from the sea. Then I moved to twenty minutes from the ocean and I had a wide choice of beaches to go to. Now I am really lucky to live on the edge of a coastal town. I have a view of countryside and live in a peaceful locality. I would have a house with a sea view if I could possibly afford it. I know that the sea can get wild and come crashing into land causing lots of damage sometimes. I lived in a village that had an underground bore and some years there wasn't any water. One year it flooded so that was surprising. I would never under estimate the sea. It would be quiet living on a mountain side and the views would be splendid. However to live by the beach is my dream not on a mountain.

Both places are so inspirational. I think mountains sound more suitable for the ones who wish for some quiet and meditational time. Beach can also keep you in a peaceful mood but it also represents a "getaway" in my opinion. I would go for a house near the beach.

Hi Azaerus, I've been to your place and it's such a wonderful and beautiful city at the top of the mountains. I've always dreamed of having a vacation house there, it has remained a dream up to this day. While I love the mountain view, I like the beach better. There is more to do in the beach, and if there is nothing else, just listen to the sound of water, it brings me peace and serenity, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I think I prefer to drown! Beach is where my dream home will be..mountain is good too...but no access to outside world and in case of emergency..no way out! Atleast beach have a brighter side..like nearby to shops and hospital!

i really appreciate ur analysis. i come from the mountain district, maybe it can be considered that i once lived on the top of the mountain. i love the green hills, fresh air, clean and cold springs, birds, ... though now i'm living in the big city nearby the sea. i still love my mountains. so maybe i'll choose the second one. but if possible, i do hope i can live near the beach to have a travel.

Hello Azaerus, I am living here in Manila where city life never sleeps.I always wanted to go back there in Baguio(i am a native of BAGUIO)but my kids doesn't like the slow life in there. We only spent our vacation every December and summer there, kids love it,but to live in there they don't like it. If you were gonna asked me,i would prefer to live in the mountains,i like the peaceful nature, the cool breeze, the birds and the humming of the wind made by the trees.
