Hi Music lovers, Do you own a musical instrument in home? Have you seen, touched and used it? Do you like natural musical sounds from your instrument? I have 3 instruments in home. An acoustic guitar, a keyboard and a flute. I like acoustic guitar mostly. I used to play it even when there is no power in our home and when everything seems to be silent my guitar sound wakes up. Its a fun to play and have a musical instrument in our home.... Do share your thoughts..... Have a nice day....

Musical Instruments - Various musical instruments
Hello phillip_shiny! We have some musical instruments at home. The family loves music. I have learned playing different instruments at a very young age. My favorite is the piano. But I also play the keyboard if I wanted to play pop. We have a classical guitar and an acoustic guitar too. We used to have an electrical guitar and drums but I had to give them to my cousin. By the way, my cousins play well too...

I would love to have a piano at home. However, this is only a dream as the piano will never get a place at home simply because of space and money. More importantly, I cannot play the piano. lol. I have a guitar at home though and it has now become a white elephant.

I am a singer and I have a Harmonium, tabla,Tanpura, Guitar and a keyboard. The guitar is my sisters.Since I am staying away from home persueing technical studies, so I just have the keyboard with me, which I play sometimes. I have fascination for saxophone and wan't to own. I once brought a mouthorgan... but I don't play that very well. But I love the sound of it. When there is no power and you have a bunch of friends around to play some instruments.......its just heaven. I am a great music lover and I love the sounds of instruments rather then the synthetic sounds. Live orchestra is awesome and theres no substitute. Carry on with the love for music. Happy mylotting!

I am a pianist and own a clavinova piano at home. I love to play it, as I love music. I was once a professional musician until things got hard for musicians when live musicians were replaced by disco and karioke in the UK. But I continue to play as I feel it is a great mood enhancer and keeps the brain focused and working properly. I tell most of my friends to take up playing an instrument if they have one as I think there is nothing better for the mind and spirit... - Derek

Hi Phillip, thanks for your reply and making me a friend. I have known lots of musicians that didn't train or read music and they were all really good musicians - some of them worked at venues. So whilst reading music has it's advantages, you can still play and be a great musician just playing by ear. You can also get simple music copies with just lyrics and chords written on them. I don't know if you've already seen these or not. There used to be a series around called, "Buskers Books". They are great fun to use. - Derek

Hi Derek, I am glad to meet such a great professional musician through Mylot. I really admire you of your talents. I love music to extent which I can burst out to tears sometimes. But I have not learnt music in a proper way with notations. Just by ear I hear and then play on my own just practising like anything. Glad to have you here. Have a nice day.... Cheers...

I have a couple of keyboards, a violin and an accordian. I haven't played any of them in a long time. My husband is home all day, every day and I won't play around anyone. The accordian was my mother's, she took lessons when she was 14, if she were alive, she'd be 74 so the accordian is about 60 years old and the bellows are still good. I treasure it. As a child, I took piano lessons, I loved the piano. The larger of the two keyboards was an economical way to have a piano but not quite the same. I was teaching myself to play the violin about 10 years ago, then my daughter and her daughter moved in with us, I was the resident babysitter so the violin was put away. I regret not getting back into playing, I really enjoyed it. Sometimes I help my grand daughter learn some notes, the smaller keyboard is for the grand kids but only one grand daughter has shown any interest so we have fun while she learns. At least I have something I can hand down to the younger generations, that and my crochet.

It might be I just like to listen to someone who plays it, it's kinda cool among guys, not among girls, I'll say I'm the only girl who join this community brought a guitar. After the community time, my girlfriends were always drag me to more interesting place, so ... Since all these years, I just keep one interest left, that is drawing those anime figures, and to other interests, I have to say sorry since I have full time work to do and dont have so much time for many interests. Have a nice day!

Hi, Shiny, As a music lover, I also have some instruments at home. I have a violin. I started learning violin since I was a primary school student. However, I am not a good player. My parents said I don't have talent in music. I still love to play the violin and try to improve a lot.

Hi OrientFish, Talent do comes from practise. Talented guys are not born. They are also born. Practise makes a man prefect. Thanks for sharing your experience... Have a great day... Cheers...

Hi, Shiny, You are correct. There's no inborn talent for anything. I will still keep on practising and never mind others' complaint about the unfavorable sound I may make. Thanks for your encouragement.

I have a guitar in my house. I am learning guitar so I play quite often. I had a mouth organ also in my house. It was gifted to me by one of my father's friend. Nobody was interested in playing that so I gifted it to my nephew (hopefully he is using it). But I feel that atleast one should try learning atleast 1 musical instrument. It is totally different feeling.
