Do you remember the "Old" RuneScape?

Since I've been playing for a while now I've noticed a lot of changes in the community. In the f2p worlds runite armour as well as runite/adamant/mithril axes (*cough* I mean hatchets) were a very rare thing to see. Now with the release of the Grand Exchange it's as if everything is falling apart. I've started seeing people making tons of money just by collecting burnt fish, ashes, logs etc. and selling them in them in the G.E. As well as merchanting clans which destroy the prices of items... What is your opinion on this?

Well, the new Runescape is more economical, with the merchanting clans, with the dropping and raising of prices of items. The New Runescape reminds me of real life.

Screw merchanting clans. They buy things by mass to manipulate prices. I do support merchanting, which is buying a lot of one item then when it is more valued you sell them when they are in greater demand because of say an update, not because all of the item is purchased by merchanting clans.

It does remind me of real life to. But it's just that items got way to unvaluable since the ge came out. That's what bothers me. Aside from that I have nothing against the ge.

Why would anyone want ashes or burnt fish? Grand Exchange is just a newer and better alternative of standing in World 1 Varrock with your autotyper repeating things. The reason I believe the amount of people with Rune went up is because bots is gone, which means less competition.

Plus there are now more people with the levels required to make the rune items so there's a greater supply.

Hello stupidkid007. Maybe you're right about that. But I have seen many people in the past make a good profit from selling ashes. Not sure why though.

Well I hate the whole merchanting clan thing. Jagex is starting to take measures against that by banning the clan leaders but they should do more. Every day new clans pop up. Other than that I don't see the difference really. People used to trade stuff anyways & the armors could always be bought in the shops.

Yes, I guess your right about the armor. And I also think Jagex could do more about the whole merchanting clans thing. I see that you are an experience runescape player. If you don't mind how long have you been playing?

Well, I think that the Grand Exchange is not really a bad idea. You're saying people having runite armour is a bad thing? -.- As for the merchanting clans, they are really annoying... I see a price of this item rise, and it goes just over the amount of gp I have...

Hello merlinsorca, thanks for the response. I don't think people with runite armor are bad. I just think that the armor itself has gotten devalued. Just because in the past it was much rarer then what it is now. Cheers! Thok

Since the ge has came out i've noticed alot of unfair changes ecspeacily for the f2p and another thing is that on the ge things get devalued a lot because every about 1-4 hours or any in between jagex generates a set number of items for every section on the ge and puts them there incase the player stock on that item disappears. So in all honesty jagex does try to keep the prices up but merchanting clans don't care they just spend money and make money. Now as far as the ge i'm all for not having to go all over runescape looking to buy an item just to find the only scammer thats selling it in that area. And clan merchanting is sometimes good as it can help people who don't have gp get some so that last piece of rune armour can't elude them again... but then again thats before another merchanting clan comes along and makes the price of rune armour sky rocket. and as for the unfair advantages of f2p.. who in there right mind thinks 2 ge slots is enough for one player who wants to merch regulary and buy some items as well. And also f2p seem to always have to run the longest to just get one little tensy level in a skill.

Hello bonez899, Thanks for the response. Every update has it's ups and downs but do you think the ge is more positive then negative?

But with the invention of the G.E. we have a community with less players confused as to what the price of items are. I used to make money by buying rune sets at 90k each and hoping the world to sell them at 120k. I found it a good way to earn money back then, because I was inexperienced with my money, I easily parted with it. But I think Jagex is becoming like an over protective parent. Sheltering it's community, basically taking away the experience of losing what you've earned to people that you thought you could trust. I'm not sure where I'm going here, but I'm basically stating the obvious.
