We met the new principal of my daughters school this week. She is excited about being in 1st grade. She also saw her kindergarten teacher while we were there. I think it gave her a sense of stability, that things weren't going to be that different from last year. She says she will miss me and her baby brother, but wants to go. Anyone else have kids excitied to get back to school?

I don't have any kids, but I went back to school today. Starting on a Friday really doesn't make much sense, as now I still have 2 more days of freedom before getting back on the grind.

I have two kids in school-one is in 4th grade this year, and the other is in 2nd. We live in a school district where there is year round school, so they went back a couple weeks ago, on July 27th. (Which i don't really like-I think kids should have a full summer off!) School is school, they both groaned a little when the first day was approaching, but I know they enjoy the social aspects of school and they do appreciate some structure to their day.

enjoy new school life - It is good that kids are going to start their new school life.
Hello ersmommy. I am glad to know that your daughter is going to school for her first grade in the primary school. So is the same with my niece, who is more than six. I think that kids are very excited to go to a new school when they graduated from kindergarten. This niece of mine says that she wants to have a special teaching machine to help her with her study, which is very expensive, but I think that it is worth it if that does help to learn. During the course of growing up, kids have to experience different stages of life, one of which is going to a different school at a different age till they graduate from college and find their proper work. I wish your daughter to enjoy her new school life in the primary school. Take care, my dear friend.

I have a little brother starting school at the end of this month but he's not quiet out of the summer break mode yet. Right now it's still computer and sleeping until noon for him. Maybe my mom and I should do something...

Mine are all definitly excited to get back and see their friends again. My oldest is mostly excited for the sports, he's finally at that stage where he starts playing through school instead of the paid sign ups through the community (what a relief for me). They still have a month to wait though, they don't start school until September 8th. Can't go quick enough if you ask me!

Well, Little sis started school Wednesday and she was really excited. She is going to a different school then last year since she moved but she was fine with that. Sh says her teacher is nice and the kids are too so far. She had homework though first day of school which I didn't think they would..I guess just recapping the second grade and seeing what they still remember. But so far she love third grade.

Enjoy it while it lasts! Once they hit 4th grade...they don't like "back to school"! MY GD starts 4th this year and this is the first year she hasn't been excited about school.. new clothes and cool supplies and all. She doesn't want to go to school, she is bored with school, etc. And on it will go until she graduates! I always loved back to school as a mom - (as a kid I hated it too!) but it was the only time my kids had "carte blanch" to buy whatever they wanted in the way of supplies and such. THey got a new back pack each year and the supplies sale was so cheap they gotwhat they needed and what they wantd. I look at the isles now and pick up things for my home and for the kids when they come over, but think - these kids are so lucky! THey didn't have all this cool stuff when I was in school!

We had the start of school open house yesterday and to be really honest, my daughter was very nervous about it. She went into her old kindergarten class and refused to leave until Mrs. Schmelling would walk her to her first grade teacher's class. But, the good thing is when we came home, she said that she really likes her new teacher. Several of her friends from last year are in her new class, including her very best friend, so I am really happy about that. As far as the things that we need to get done though, we are far from ready. We still have to go get school supplies and school clothes and etc. They start on Wednesday the 12th.
