How Do I Take "Screenshots" With A Laptop?

Canada
August 7, 2009 8:40pm CST
Someone asked me today to take a screenshot of something today, and I had no idea how to do it. I have a laptop, so the keys aren't the same as a regular keyboard. Can someone please tell me how to take a screenshot?

It should be right above the insert key right after the last of the F# buttons

On my computer it's the same key as insert. How do I command it to print screen as opposed to inserting?

Hold the Fn key and tap Insert to reach your PrtScr key. Otherwise, if that's too much of a hassle along with pasting in to an image application for saving, try the free opensource Lightscreen... http://lightscreen.sourceforge.net/

I haven't tried it but I think it's the same as a pc - I have a laptop too...whenever I've needed to take a screen shot in the past, I always used the control & print screen keys pressed at the same time.

I don't know exactly what your laptop's brand is. I guess that every laptop has a "Prtscr" button. press that one and paste in your Microsoft Word document, then you will get.

go over to tucows.com and look for "screen capture" software. most of them have helper tips on them so it's easy. some of them all you have to do is open the screen page you want to copy with the program open and hit enter or a similar key.

Lots of times you have to hit FN and then the key that has prt scr written in the same colour. It seems different for almost every laptop though!

Thank You so Much for this discussion! Not just for laptops, but I didn't even know how to do one in general. Now, thanks to this helpful information; I have NO questions regarding this. Thanks again!

Hi, There are several ways to take screenshot of anything in laptop. You could use the default button on your keyboard or you can use any software programs which will help you in doing it. Also in Windows 7 operating system, there is an integrated tool for this purpose. For more queries login to my discussion, and do post. You will be getting reply as soon as possible.
