Hi, Is this a wise idea to make ice cream at home with some healthy mixes and give your child? I think it is good in summer. What do you think? Thanks

This is something that we've enjoyed doing during the summer. One of our favorite is to make ice cream in a bag. Well, two bags. In the smaller bag you place all of the ingredients for your recipe of ice cream (we actually do more of an iced milk using skim milk). In the outer, larger bag you place your ice and salt. Make sure first the inner bag is securely sealed, place it inside the larger bag. Then make sure the larger bag is securely sealed. Then shake away for 5-10 minutes then you have a ready to eat treat that a child can help you make.

Completely wise idea. We have made ice creams with and without icecream maker and you can be sure that the ingredients that you mix in them are pure and original. SO the icecream that you make turns out to be more authentic and healthy.

When I made ice cream at home, it was a little more trouble than it was worth but it will be a nice experience for your child and the ingredients isn't hard to find. Its just a lot of work for it to actually taste like ice cream.

I think it is good for summer. It will help you to get your children a healthier ice cream for lower costs. Nice idea.

I think that it is fine as long as you use a mix that doesn't require using raw eggs. Ice cream contains a lot of calcium that children need. I don't mind giving it to my kids because I can't get them to drink milk.

I make popsicles for my kids instead of ice cream! Maybe becuase we have a wide variety of ice cream in the market here - like green tea, vanila with dried fruits (tutty fruitty) and even yogurt ice cream. But for popsicles, I use fresh milk and some friut juice. Or just fruit juice with some fruit bits! A sure good way to making fruit eating FUN!

If you know how to make ice crea, there are all kinds of great ways to make it at home. I have never tried it myself, but my grandmother used to make it, and it was really really really good. I woudln't do homemade ice cream to sell, because of legal issues, but to make at home for family and personal enjoyment is a great idea.
