From someone who just recently had Cataract Surgery, I would wonder what they said. Did they say it was one bad enough to operate on, or could it wait and do you have one on one eye or both? I wore glasses all my life, and no can see OK without glasses most of the time. Have a harder time seeing smaller print without it being blurry, and have an appointment to have my eyes reevaluatd on September 11th, but for me this was the Best thing I could have ever done, and if surgery is recommended I would say Go for it as long as you have the Insurance to cover it.

I see a cataract Specialist this week to evaluate my eyes. I have the cataract in my right eye and one starting in my left.
Also, I want to share with you that I'm Deaf in both ears so my eyes are my ears!!
Anyway, what bothers me most is I can not read small print and overall,just can not see as good in that eye but, I have never had blurry problems.
BIG WORRY....this is in the same eye where I had a Retinal tear....emergency eye surgery corrected the tear yet, left me with a lot of scar tissue in that eye. I will also, ask my Retinal Specialist, most likely.
I'm reallllly worried about my sight and nervous.......will know more this week.

Cataracts almost always get worse. Mom just had hers removed and said she regrets waiting so long to do it. If you are not having problems seeing then wait.
Mom said the surgery was a piece of cake...she is 82

I sure do appreciate your feedback as well, as the other members. Why did your Mom say "she regrets waiting so long to do it"?
Guess my main concern is will it harm my eyes in anyway to wait?
I will go and have a Cataract evaluation soon..I will do that as a first step.
I'm Deaf so my eyes are my ears and anything about my eyes scares me.

I can't speak for myself, but, both my parents had cataracts removed, and it was a world of difference for them. They didn't know how bad their vision was until they were removed. I'd say go for it, and improve the quality of life.

I have never had the problem but my ex husband had cataracts and he had an eye surgeon tell us that the one eye was ready to do but the other eye wasn't ready, so there is such a thing that you can have it done too soon I guess. He had the first eye done and it wasn't till about two years later before the surgeon said OK we can go ahead. Good luck and if you just see an Optometrist I suggest a second opinion and if you can do see an optimologist. Good Luck.

it needs a small operation and rest for three days. all will be okay.do not wait it will affect your vision, consult your family surgeon

I guess the real question is how well can you see???? Cataract surgery has come a long way since the first one's done. I know a lady who had one of the first one's done and had lots of trouble. She got her other eye done recently and it was a breeze.She says she can really see great now. If you can see good wait if you want. In time they will get worse.This lady I talk about had one operation about your age and the second around 75.Lots of luck whatever you choose!!

Hello dixie,
Both my inlaws(mother and father in law) had gone through this surgery.It doesn't take long my dear and they are doing fine.
Nothing to worry about it's just a minor operation,and don't wait to make things worst,do it the soonest possible time.
