I was talking to hubby about Garth Brooks songs & he was talking about "thunder rolls" as it was storming outside and he asked me do I know the point of the song & I said no. And honestly I don't know the point, message, or experience that is being expressed in most music. Usually I like the beat or have picked up the words easily but I don't always know what the intentions were of the song. Anyone else not know the meanings behind most songs unless it's obvious? You know like the song Earl by Dixie Chicks basically spells out what it's about in plain Enlish.

I have no idea what the message is in most music. Unless someone tells me. I don't think I really listen to music all that closely to even try to get the meaning behind the music.

Not to mention some songs you can barely make out the words they are singing.

I like to know what my favorite songs are about. If I like it enough to look up the lyrics--I can't understand half of what people are singing--I enjoy, mostly, knowing what it's about. There are some, of course, that are unmistakable. Pink Floyd's Animals album was very plain about what they meant. Of course, I didn't know why Roger Waters wanted somewhere safe to bury his bone when I first heard it and didn't get the reference and now that I understand, it makes the short little ditty he's singing a little sordid for me but I still like it.

I'm pretty good at figuring out the meaning behind most songs. There are some songs though that I have absolutely no clue what they are trying to say.

I think singing very much. I like to know the meaning of the songs so I like to look at the lyrics when I am listening to a song. Knowing the meaning of a song can make you enjoy the song more I think. Try to understand the songs. Because song is not jjst talking about melody, also lyric is a very important part. And writing lyric is a really hard job. Enjoy you music^_^
