Was Ally McBeal good?

Ally McBeal was on for five years. I loved the show and was once again upset that they cancelled it after the five years. Calista Flockhart was great in it, also the other cast members were Jane Krakowski, Portia De Rossi(now married to Ellen), Courtney Thorne Smith, Lucy Lui and Gil Bellows. Special guest star towards the end was Robert Downey Jr. It was a great show. Where are you able to see it?

I liked it because it really had offbeat characters and storylines. Besides Calista, I first was introdeced to many other actors by this show, some as regulers and some that did long guest appearances. Of note for me were christina Ricci, Lucy Liu, Peter MacNicol(who is on Numb3rs now) and several others. The unisex bathroom often provided humor, also. Definitely watch it.

It was. I was a viewer since the very first episode. I have all the DVDs of Ally McBeal and I still watch them once in a while. This show has a lot of quirky characters, funny and tender scenes, witty dialogue as well as awesome special effects (dancing CGI baby, chopped off heads, falling tongues that roll out like a red carpet, etc.) Oh, and yeah, a lot of the songs are great too. Watch out for the episode when Sting and Downey Jr. sang among many other memorable clips. Search that and these other clips in youtube if you have time to get some samples: John Cage sings Barry White, Robert Downey Jr. sings River, Ally and the dancing baby. If you happen to catch the first season, I'm sure you'll enjoy journeying with the actors as they develop their characters more. Ally McBeal had 5 seasons. The best one for me was the 4th when Robert Downey Jr. became Calista's love interest. Although I also enjoyed the first 3 seasons too. The 5th one was when the show started going downhill and was finally cancelled. BTW, I'm also a fan of Brothers and Sisters :)
