Have you ever purchase an item, left it at the store and the store save it

I purchase some beads at Hobby Lobby 2 weeks ago, and I ran some errands soon after. I got home, and I could not find my package. I look in the car the garage you name it. I could not find my package. It was the weekend so Hobby Lobby was closed the Sunday. I called the Monday, and one of the clerks ask about the receipt. Well heck, if I don't have the bag most likely I don't have the receipt also. I figured well they probably took my beads and place them back on the store shelf. A couple days ago, I was at the store, trying to replace my items. I ask another clerk what was their procedures if I did forget the package at the register. He said they normally save them in the back. I gave him the description of my items, and a few minutes later he returned with my purchase. Has this ever happen to you?

You are lucky to get your stuff back....It never happened to me...in fact I didn't get my stuff back even though it was just a few hour that I came back to claim it....and there has been events when I forget my umbrella or my cap at a shop and when I came back to get it its not there.....

Maybe another customer took it or the store has dishonest employees.

Yes, It happened to me recently where me and one of my friend entered into one nice accessories shop and you have to leave your other bags to counter corner first. While returning back I completely forgot that I had another bag also before entering to this shop. Thankfully I remembered immediately after exit and few foot steps. Tell you the truth may be it's because of my favorite stuff[cute soft toy] which I bought from Archies gallary which made me think "where it is?".

It's great that you remember soon after. It's extremely frustrating if you had find out later, and had to make another trip to store.

Yes, You feel sick to go back if you already reached your home or far away from that place. Then I prefer to send someone else on behalf of me to collect that forgotton bag/ stuff.

I happened to me a few months ago... i thought the cashier put the plastic bag inside the bigger one... so i went home without the fish and meat that i bought... i immediately went back to the supermarket... and had to wait a few minutes because they put the items i left in the cold storage room... but after waiting... they gave it to me and i was just glad i got the items because that was suppose to be cooked for dinner...

I am glad they save your items. It's hard to have to repurchase items that you already paid for.

Oh all the time at walmart. i so so hate their bagging set up. I have far too many times gotten home and realized a bag was not picked up. It only happens at walmart and to their credit ....I always can go back in and get the items without a problem. I work in a store. If a customer leaves behind an item...I set it aside and if I know the persons name...I label it.

It's not until I come back home actually,,a few step from cashier desk I would remember and back again. Of course the cashier and clerk grin at me and I feel like dumb people! it happened when I bought a book in a big bookstore in a mall. At that time, I was in a hurried to the restaurant because I feel so hungry... and I realize why I didn't carry anything when I out from that bookstore. Then I ask the cashier and she gave me back.. I think this honest attitude need to be maintain by all the shops, because after we receive or left-things, I personally feel relieved and some kind of believe feeling to that shop, and I will back to that shop again

I think forgetting items in a store 90% of the time is because we are distracted or in a hurry.

Well, not exactly. But yeah, I have had a few experiences when I got back my parcel from a store. They had kept it safely. I went and asked for the parcel, they verified my identity and returned my parcel. It was a relief to get back my things as I had paid a lot to buy those stuff. :) Some stores are very particular about the receipts but others do tend to help the customer and look for a forgotten item.

I do understand wanting a receipt because some people can be dishonest.

Nope, when I forgot my items in the grocery or even in the shop when I came back they'll just tell me that they haven't seen it and there's a lot of people going into their shop it might taken already. So, I don't have a choice but just to get over about it and besides its my fault I'm the one who leave the items. I can also blame those employee/clerk since its not their responsible to keep their eyes in my items.

Yes, I agree its your responsibility, but the store I think should provide good customer service and save the items for customers. A store that goes that extra mile, attracts more customers. I definitely will think of Hobby Lobby before one of their competitors because they went that extra mile for me.

I was way smarter i forgot my cell as well as my purchase... aren't i a pure genius or what?! I went back 10 - 15 minute later when i noticed how smart i was... the store owner put them on a side grinned gave them back... and i left feeling all the dumber lol Some places would just as well not return your items if they are dishonest but small shop or not... the guy was honest... i felt like it was my father that was mocking me with a grin... the man was way older than me... made me feel like a dumb child =P oh well..

Yah.. it happened once. I purchased a bottle of milk, curd along with some grocery. Paid the money and left the shop. When I reach home I realized the milk and curd were missing. Returned back to the shop. Seeing me they gave me the packets without asking any bills.

I have done it a few times. I generally get warned by the shopkeeper to take my things. If I leave and go too I will be able to get things back. As I buy stuff and consume them immediately I dont actually do this. I leave behind bags that are not allowed inside shopping malls. I go later to pick them up.

It's great when they warn you. It's such an inconvenience to go back.

So we left, went to eat and got home like around 8:30 when we wanted to see all the things we bought there was no bag, she must left it at the store. So we went back quickly cause they close at 9. So yea they had the bag. We went back home and for our surprise inside my sister big bag full of clothes, there was another bag with stuff, we realized that may be somebody must left it back and they tought it was ours.

Yes this happened to me some years back when i had gone to shop for provisions. My husband had also accompanied me and both of us together checked all the items we had bought before we left the store. But when i reached home and crosschecked them with the prices i found a bottle of tomato sauce missing. I made my husband drive back and get the tomato sauce. He kept on grunbling all the way saying that the fuel cost would have costed more than the bottle of sauce left behind. Even today whenever we shop together he says me to check thoroughly the items with the caution note - I will not drive back to get the item left behind. Happy mylotting.
