I'm interested to know if anyone makes good money from selling on Ebay? Is it worth it after all the fees and taxes taken out of your profit etc...

I have sold off a few unwanted prize wins and various items I know longer wanted .. yes .. I did make a little money at the end of the day .. just enough to but some much needed household items .. But I doubt I'd ever be able to make a business of it ... you have to have some kind of start up budget ... then you'd need to source really cheap items and probably import it all from China or Asia .. then you need a large storage facility .. then you need all the packing paraphanalia .. and then very quickly you might find you need an accountant to do all your taxes and VAT forms ... Streuth ... it's all way too time consuming to even think of starting ... and in any case I am not allowed to sell on Ebay in that way ... as it would be considered a business .. and I am on Disability Benefits and not allowed to work ..

Kind of puts you off, don't it! It seems like a great moneyspinner but when you start disecting everything that is involved you wonder what's the point, great for a few items here and there, as for a business opportunity, well I think its too much work for too little gain.

my uncles have a huge ware house of inventory that they sell on e-bay they make around 10 thousand a month, and even have staff working for them. So I tought if they can do it why not me? I invested $1000 into buging bulk, and lots of things of e-bay andf at garage sales, after 2 weeks to a month i relized im gonna have to get a job, the stuff will move but you have to post it sometimes up to 5 times. so in the end you can bug 100 no name dvd for $150 you'll make around $450 off the transaction but i still have 80 dvds to move. I have aroom full of stuff noone wants. so it depends how much you invest, time and money and what you choose as yotu r product, not all things are always in demand.

Fees are going up at the end of January also. I sell some things there every now and then but honestly, it is not worth the effort anymore.

Thank you for your response, after you pay the Ebay fees and VAT you have a small profit and you have to struggle to get that. I don't tend to use it much nowadays, I buy more than I sell.

Yes, that's what I found you spend hours on there listing everything, then not everything sells and when it does sometimes they don't pay so you have lots of hassle chasing people, then when you take the ebay and paypal fees out you are left with ... not very much! Hats off to people who make a living on there but they are usually the ones who very much over charge on the postage and handling charges!!
