Dieting? I loathe the word. Try watching portions, fat and carb content.

I have been on more diets! My most successful has been the Curves 6-wk challenge. I learned so much from attending this. The weight is slowly coming off. I have been on diets where I have dropped 75 lb in less than 6 months, but would slowly put it back on. Curves educates you in proper portions. I do not feel restricted by any means. Thank you Curves for putting me in the right direction.

I never heard of that. I wish I could loose 10 pounds. But, I am so inactive, as I have to stay off my foot, it's hurt. And, diet and exercise is a dirty word for me. Hehhe. :) Good luck on your diet.

I hope you do. I have that stupid problem with my foot, and can barely walk.

Medifast - medifast logo
I just ordered 4 weeks of food from Medifast (www.medifast1.com)... I'm going to give them another try because I just don't have the will power lately to keep track of what I eat. I should only have to eat their food for a few months and then I'm going to switch back to Weight Watchers for maintenance. I have a friend who has lost 70 pounds since May using Medifast... I had to quit because I was dumb and only drank the shakes and it messed up my stomach. I'm going to be smart about it this time and actually eat the real food, even if it DOES take me a little longer to lose this weight!

Good luck with it. I am struggling right now to get back on my diet. I do manage to go to Curves to exercise. Nerves suck.

You're better than me! I pretty much just don't exercise... I just got a new job (second job) this morning as a dog bather/groomer at Petsmart - so that's going to provide more physical activity than I'm used to since all I do all day is sit on my bum and answer phones :P

I'm so glad for you. I hate diets too. The older I get, the harder it is to loose I noticed. Oh well. More power to you.

I do not like using the word dieting. I like to say that I am changing my eating habits. Maybe people "diet" and loose the weight, but once the weight is lost, they go back to eating like they were that caused the overweight problem to begin with. If it caused one to be overweight before...it will surely again. Thus, you are correct. The term diet should be done away with and use changing my eating habits. :) Congrats on changing your eating habits!!!!

I love Curves. Going with my sister helps, it motivates me. We did the 6-week solution together. Gave us a jump start to our metabolism and taught us how to eat better.

I've found it helps to exercise a little more, eat a little less and eat more healthy foods than junk food. I still have some junk food, but not nearly what I used to. I feel better too. I think it's all about a lifestyle change and not about being on a diet. Glad to hear you're doing so well!

Not beating yourself up when you fail to make it through the day without overeating is good too. I always remember that tomorrow is another day.

That's awesome!! I'm not setting a New Years resolution, but starting in January I am going to try to get a little healthy. I don't want to be skinny, I just want to be a little more active. My main problem is laziness, straight up, I admit it. I have a 9 month old and I have to do this because I won't be able to keep up with him once he's walking. My husband bought me an Eliptical machine and I love it.

I am not coordinated enough for the Eliptical. My nephew has one and just watching him do it made me dizzy. LOL. I have an exercise bicycle,my husband uses it more than I do. Maybe I will get on the ball soon and use it too.

Thank is great! You must be so proud of yourself. I was thinking of joining Curves after we move in December. How often do you go? Is it a membership or month to month?

I go 3x a week to exercise. The owner of my local Curves is AWESOME. She allows membership to be month-to-month or yearly. I do my membership yearly because I know I am going to stick with it. It is the first time I have ever found a place to exercise that I truly am comfortable with.

You Are What You Eat!! I dont understand why you ate so much to come to a point where you needed to diet. a good balanced meal, a routine 45 minute walk, 30 min exercise routine every day is the way to lead a healthy life. Swimming, cycling, jogging, skiing, dancing, walking and dozens of other activities can help your heart if it is included in your daily routine, all physical activity adds up to a healthier heart

Everyone needs to "diet". Diet is what we eat.

I'm glad that you posted this. I'm going to join Curves today. I got a $250 credit from my new health insurance towards exercise, and I thought that Curves sounded like a comfortable place to exercise- I was glad to hear that you describe it that way. Sounds as if you're doing great! You can be an inspiration to us!

I have tried everything just about, under the sun to lose weight. I managed to do so a few times; the last time was for my daughter's wedding a few years ago. I worked my tail off at the 'Y', that is until gas prices went up; 20 miles is a fair distance. I found what works for me, finally. Now if I can just start again and stay with it. When I'm hungry I'll take a bite or two and walk away. Then I wait til I get hunger pangs again and do the same thing. Along the way I drink green tea that I sun brew. I'll tell ya what. It really works!
