Gee I'm A Stubborn..UH..Found A Way To Find Old Discussions

My last discussion was kind of a rant of how with the new up-grades any discussions we started from eons ago have been zapped. You'll notice that one can't go beyond ten pages. You just won't find them there anymore if you look at your profile page..they have been obliterated right? Wrong! I'm a stubborn b!tch and wanted to figure a way to find some of my older discussions...some had a real special meaning to me. Well I found the means to find old discussions...and I'm working furiously in case this idea goes bye bye also. It has to do with "unresolved discussions"--you know the discussions you have started but never "resolved"--that is given br's to. I've been REAL slack in giving br's and have tons of pages and pages of unresolved discussions...and guess what...they still go beyond only ten pages...So what I'm doing is copying the whole page..each and every page and pasting them into my emails (yes I'm sending them to myself to store)...Then one can click the title of any discussion listed in that email and it takes you right to that discussion!! I'm sooooo happy about this..So thought I'd pass this on...now...back to copying my discussions--bye bye

Have you thought about cutting and pasting them into either Microsoft Office or Word pad? Then you can save them on a flash drive and not take up room on your hard drive or your email account. That's what I do with everything I want to save but not print out (at the price of printer ink I keep a tight rein on what I print). I have a flash drive just for the stuff I want to save for future reference. I've gotten flash drives for $4. Also you can copy and paste as many discussions onto the word pad or office as you want and aren't limited by the amount of bytes you're allowed to email. It's a thought...I have a few discussions that I want to go back and copy for future reference for the book. Toni

It's my understanding that flash drives are "plug and play" and can be used with either PCs or Macs. But what do I know? I don't have one (flash drive, that is... do have a Mac).

I'm gonna check on the flash drives, I believe that they work on both pc's and macs. I was in Wal Mart on Wednesday and found four gig flash drives for $12! I couldn't believe it as I paid a LOT more for my first one and it wasn't even a gig!!! I plan to pick up one Monday and transfer files onto it. The flash drives are extremely handy in case your hard drive fails...the flash drives have saved my fanny more than once when I had the Toshiba running. One household tip...It's hard to type on the keyboard with a cat across your arms! Khuay is currently taking his morning nap in my lap and across my left arm. Of course I don't have the heart to move him. Cat 15, Toni none!

Yeah it took me awhile but had enough time to save all my reviews from Ciao--all 134 of them--I've reposted a number of them at Associated Content and plan to post more there.

I must confess, pyewacket, that I, like yourself, have been lax in resolving some of my old discussions. I have no idea of how many are sitting there waiting for me.You've struck upon an excellent method of retaining them, and I will follow suit by attempting to do the same.

ROFLMAO - way to go. I say your earlier discussion via e-mail but couldn't get mylot to load from e-mail. Grr, common problem, but glad you found a way!!! I agree with what a person said here about copy and past to word documents - then you can save it as the discussion title and file it away on your hard drive.

Great idea! I don't think I'll go through all that work though, but I can see what you are talking about and it should work for you! What a pain though. It makes me wonder if they will ever start "archiving" older discussions and taking them off the site :(

Thanks for this Pye! I too was slack in awarding BRs and there they are! I have started gong through mine and, in some cases awarding them, but I am bookmarking all the discussions so that I will have them there wherever myLot decide to send 'em!

Good on you for not giving up Pye! I don’t have many unresolved discussions because I have been doing them as I go. My profile lists discussions I have started and they do go way back but I’m not sure they are all there, there seem to be some missing but I could be wrong, maybe they were deleted or something. The problem is that I don’t remember what my first ever discussion was! I am not bothered all that much because I rarely go back to my old stuff; of course now that I can’t I probably will want too soon!
