I personally prefer bottled water as I feel that it is more hygienic and healthier but recently read an article that said, you should not re-use a plastic bottle more than 3 times as there will be impurities in the water. This actually makes me wonder whether my theory of bottled water is healthier or not.

I use bottled water only when I am on journey or out of station. At home there is no need for bottled water as mine home RO do the needful giving me pure water. As for your news, I never heard about this but if it is true and scientifically validated then certainly this is a matter of concern. I will explore more on this on the net. Good Luck.

Oh snap! really? we always recycle our bottles here for almost 1 month or more. Maybe I should tell my parents to stop this habit and recycle our bottles for 1-3 times only. Thanks!

Hi I prefer to drink boiled water. If the boiled water is not available then I will depend on bottled water and there is a strict ‘no’ to tap water. Now many diseases are spreading through water so we have to be very careful with drinking water. I used to carry water bottle with me wherever I go. Mostly kids are also with me so they need water and I want to make sure I am giving safe water to them.

Me too is using boiled water! We have install water filter at the tap but we never drink the water directly. We will boil water before we can drink it. I have 2 babies at home too. Hence it is safe for my babies to take boiled water. sometimes when we travel to other places, we will then buy mineral water in bottles. But still we will boiled the water at the hotel. We don't use the tap water in the hotel to boil as it is not filter before. Just call me strange or am I too particular?

Well, I can only say that I drink more tap water (regular) water than bottled water. The big companies have brainwashed us with their campaign that tap water is bad, but that's all my grandparents and parents used to drink. Remember back in the day? (Okay maybe for some of us it wasn't that far in the day). Actually the bottle water goes through a less rigorous standards, so there could be more bacteria/virus in there. Moreover if you don't recycle those bottles they will go to the landfill! Plus you have to consider all the energy it takes to make the bottled water (plastic, paper, oil/coal/nuclear to run the factories). Then you have to consider the trucks/vehicles to transport it. We have reduced our bottled water purchasing (plus it saves money my friends). I use a PETE bottle (BPA free) from tappening.com. There's also some that are aluminum, either of those bottles are good for storing water. Make sure you wash them periodically by hand with soap and water. Food And Water Watch (www.foodandwaterwatch.org) and Center of Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) (www.cspinet.org) are good resources as they are non-profit and give you another side of the story to examine and view.

This is in the city point-of-view, and I'd recommend drinking water like Fiji which they do test more rigorously. Moreover I don't know standards for other countries so I cannot comment on that. As for well water sometimes that can be polluted easily as it's not filtered. You have to get it tested often, and they recommend you buy bottled water (from what I'm told).

I prefer bottled water, because in my country, tap water can't be used to drink purpose. It's healthier I think. Of course, don't refill your plastic bottle, buy a drink bottle. I wonder how if in my country tap water can be drunk, maybe I will choose it. Actually, the plastic use to bottled water has various type. If you take a look carefully, there will be a triangle sign and certain number inside it. If the number 1-3, it's not safe to refill. But if the number is higher than three, it's quiet safe. That's why in drink bottle from plastic, usually the number inside triangle is 7.. Hope this can help

really? I thought that water was always said to be a little acidic as the PH was always a bit under 7 but not alkaline. I never heard of that before, but if its good for health then we all ought to be drinking alkaline induced water, and since it only needs a small percentage I guess we can benefit lots right? thanks for your in put judy1988! happy earning here at mylot, and have fun making new friends!

I HATE TAP WATER lol. We live out in the country and the water is just horrid! It honestly smells like a cow took a crap in our house lol, it's yucky. Most people that live out in the country that have their own well have that issue, it's just disgusting. Also, most tap water in the city almost tastes like there are chemicals and clourine in it, which is gross too. I prefer city water to well water though. I love bottled water! It just tastes much more pure, mmmm!

Hello friend, Here in New Delhi the government supplies filtered water to all the homes so we do not have any hassles about drinking tap water. I do buy bottled water when I go out somewhere as I hate to carry a bottle of water with me from home. However, thanks a lot for the information on plastic bottles as we use them all the time to refrigerate the water.

Now days i prefer to drink from purified drinking water from water refilling station and deliver it to my house by gallons. Then, the tap water is used mainly for washing, laundry and cleaning. It is now unsafe to drink from tap water even if the water company issue a statement that their water could be drink as it is free from bacteria and have undergo many processing like it have chlorine. Chlorinated water is now a source of some sickness as the chlorine residues which a person drink settled on the stomach. Some people are even hospitalize for drinking water from tap sources, may no longer safe especially if it rain and their is floods.. Many bacteria wold surely suffice as the other pipe is damage..

I too drink tap water before as my water supply company assure their concessionaire that the water undergone chlorine filtering. I drink and nothing happen. But, when the water pipe blow and have been repair. We still do not drink from it, as some soils or bacteria may pass true. Aside from it the chlorine from tap water when settled leaves residue in my pail, destroy my pots, and it forms some whitish residue. Especially water when the flow increase, the water becomes white from the chlorine. my family started to avoid drinking tap water and change to purified water.

I am not so sure that bottled water is better. I have been seeing lately where bottled water is just someone elses tap water and that they don't really do anything to it. I don't know if that is true but it is creepy to think about. At home, I drink tap water generally. If I have fears about our tap water then I use a filter that attaches to my faucet to purify my water.

I am from India and I don't use mineral water bottles often.Only when I have travel long distance in a bus or train,I go for that.Even then,I prefer to take water with me from the home in a water bottle. We use municipal water at home and I use it to take with me.Yes,water in plastic bottles are not safe if they are exposed to sun light for along time. So,insist on getting it from the freezers directly.Cheers!

I drink tap water well strained and sometimes boiled, poured in a water purifier. We have no idea when the bottle has been packed in case of bottled water and whether the plastic has been reused. During travel we just cannot avoid buying a bottled water, but when at home we can use the tap water.

At home I use tap water only. I would like to boil water before drinking, but in summer the intake of water is too much that it is impossible for me to boil approx. 10 water bottles every day for three of us. When I go out for few hours, I take water from home, but for long journeys or while eating in restaurants, I buy bottled water, but always with fear in my mind whether this water is origin brand or fake with ordinary water taken from some tap.

i prefer bottled water, not the plastic bottled water. coz plastic gives us unhygienic conditions. bottled water is the best idea to drink water. i has no effect on human being i think. plastic staffs give us unfavourable health. i prefer bottled water :)
