Ever Been In A Baseball Traffic Jam?

Canada

I traveled from Canada to the USA this weekend via Detroit this weekend. Most of my fellow bus mates were on their way to a baseball game in Detroit. Unfortunately so were the 500 or so cars, infront of us. The poor folks on our bus managed to miss the first half of the game in Detroit, because it took so long at Customs, and I was late to the birthday party I planned to attend, in Toledo Ohio. I had no idea there were so many Detroit fans in Canada!! Anyone else ever been caught in a Baseball related traffic jam? Were you one of those attending the game, or where you like me, on your way somewhere else, and just held up by the crowd?

I used to live 6 blocks from the University of Texas foot ball stadium (U.S. style) and about the same from the U.T. Baseball field. We could see the lights and hear the cheering but never had a major problem with the traffic from the field. Football, on the other hand, they parked all over the neighborhood - and if we wanted our parking place, we had to NOT go out during the day. We could hear the crowds and the cannon fire when the home team got a touch down. HATED game days.

Well, not only a baseball game ,but any type of event can create a great deal of traffic here in the U.S.

You know, I can't remember if any of the traffic jams I've been in have been for baseball games. There have been quite a few traffic jams through the years and I hate 'em especially when it is hot. I dont' handle the heat well. When its cold it isn't so bad, you can read or talk and visit with the people in the car with you. The worst thing in a traffic jam though is if you are traveling with someone who has an anger management problem and they rant and rave through it all. Now that's a nightmare.

Both, I've been to a few Kansas City Royals games and been stuck in traffic there and back. We recently went to a LA Dodgers game and got stuck in the traffic getting there and then getting home. We traveled to LA a lot in the past few months and got caught in another LA Dodgers game but we weren't attending it.

I actually have. We have a minor league baseball team here in Toledo and everyone goes to the games and since I use to work in downtown I got caught by it once a week, not as many cars as in Detroit but, the police also close down certain roads so that traffic isn't moving down roads that balls could be hit out onto. Hope you had fun here and our humid and hot weather didn't bother you to much.

I have actually been to a few ball games and yes the traffic is pretty hectic. A lot of people go to these games and at the times of the game starting and ending the traffic is crazy.

It's unfortunate for you, but those fans should know to make plans to leave early! It is always a mess for a baseball game, and especially a team who is doing well in the league! I am not a Detroit fan, myself, but like the Cleveland Indians. And thanks again for surprising me at my birthday party in Toledo!!

Well, I have been to several baseball games including 31 this summer as I visited all 30 MLB ballparks and thus been in some baseball related traffic jams. I can say that Detroit was one of the more congested areas when we were visiting, but I never got the impression Canadians were much into baseball. Even when we went to the Canadian baseball hall of fame they said that there really is not even that many fans of the Blue Jays. They actually sell more stuff related to the now gone Expos than the still current Blue Jays. By the way the worst traffic jam I have experienced after a baseball game is in the Dodgers parking lot, which is almost like its own interstate system around the park.
