hi! have you heard about magicjack? i purchased magicjack a couple of months ago but wasnt able to use it because i always get an error message like 'error 3' and 'error 9'.. it must be that our administrator is blocking the port magic jack's using.. how about you guys? did you have any problem connecting your magic jack?

never had an issue with MagicJack when i installed it. though i was reluctant since i'm using Windows 7. I had to revert back to Vista since their techsupport mentioned that Windows 7 is not supported. i tested it on my friend's laptop who's using Windows 7. I installed the 'upgrade' software which is designed for Vista. Lo and behold, it works without any problem.

I am wondering what could be that error 3 and 9 is. We have one at my mother's house and I only know that it will not work in windows XP SP3 and if one disable the autorun features of removable drives. As for the later an Admin may disable this to prevent being infected with flash/pen/usb drives which prevent magicjack from properly initializing and accessing the net.

hi and thank you for your response.. Error 9 means "your firewall is preventing magicJack from communicating with the magicJack servers." i checked my firewall yet the error is still there.. much confusing is they asked me to verify the account which i promptly adhered to, but another error message popped out saying "Email address is not on file, password is invalid or magic jack serial number is not associated with login." I filled up the 'forgot password' option and checked my mail and they gave me the same password that I input in the password field, so that clearly means my email address is on file, right? I really don't understand...

We have experience the login request when it prompt me one time to download upgrade which I did but when we re-enter the login info it works fine. I guest something is really blocking it preventing your account to be send properly. In our firewall I have granted full access to the magicjack application. Also may I point out that some antivirus or internet security programs have a built in firewall/web/network shield that might be blocking it, temporarily disable it and observe. Their site has practically no support for this kind of problems, well just have to wing it.

I did try to disable my antivirus but I still cannot connect.. I guess you are right, there must be something blocking the magicjack application.. I presume our network admin is blocking the port for our VoIP.. Thank you very much for your input, I appreciate it a lot..=)

I don't have such problem, or you may need to call the "Magic Jack" manufacturer, or the radio shack guy who knows more about its connection. It might have some software issue, or device manager issue you need to resolve from your computer, or the DSL modem.

A friend of mine called a while ago and ask me to help her to setup this gadget he called Magicjack. So i went there, plug the unit, then fill up the registration. Now the problem is this, there is an error that say, Please restart your magic jack and start again (error 401), it happens everytime and up to now we can't figure out what to do, don't know, maybe the item is deffective, any body had the same experience?
