I had the radio on the other day in my car. The kids and I were enjoying a fast paced dance song when the next song came on. It was one of those songs where I had to quick change the station so the kids wouldn't figure out the words to it. The song was called "Birthday S**" (rhymes with tex). Have you heard this ridiculous song yet?

If someone wants to makeup a song about s** fine, do it privately. Don't go make a record about it for all of the young kids to hear on the radio. Our kids don't need to be learning about this stuff through a song. Some songs have no reason to be on the radio. I don't know where people's morals are sometimes.

free speech means that the man can sing about whatever he wants to. if you don't want to listen to it then don't. once again it is not his fault nor the parents fault if you have an issue it s with the radio stations for not sensoring the song the way it should have. plus kids are going to have to learn about it sooner or later.

Oh how this made me smile in a weird sense. I haven't heard it, but based from the title alone I'm not sure that I would want to. My daughter was born in 2001, and in 2004 when I was traveling (I had just ended my relationship with her father and he was looking to gain custody of her) I wasn't paying much mind to the radio. The song that was playing was "Because I Got High" by Afroman. The next thing I hear coming from my back seat is "Because I got high!" spurting out of her mouth! Oh my god, I can't begin to say how thankful I was that she had forgotten it before seeing her father as that would NOT have made an impression and been fodder for the court I'm sure!

That's what I'm afraid for - the kids learning this junk.

I have had to change the radio station at times too. I hate it when they play songs like that on the air for everyone to hear. I think that type of music should not be played for the public to hear. I have not hear dthat song yet.

I don't get why they play those songs on the radio either. I hope you never have to hear the one I was talking about.

No, I do play name that song a lot with my kids. They are amazed at my musical library and most of the time I stay away from hip hop or rap, I don't like it so I just move on by.

This wasn't even a rap station I was listening to. It was different kinds of songs so I was really surprised when that song came on.

We have the same problem out here where I live. It has been going on for years but at last lewd mlyrics are not allowed to be broadcasted on the airwaves. I am so happy for that. They were so explicit and ugly and so degrading to the female s*x. totally disgusting.

I wish they would censor more here in the U.S.

Yep, I have heard that song. Those are the times I start singing really loudly - different words over the offensive words as I change the station! I've been trying to stay away from those popular music stations for that reason. I'll just plug in my Ipod. I have been listening to 101.9 NY. They play 80s, 90s, 00s alternative music, it's great! A few months ago, my friend had my daughter and her son in the car. That Lady Gaga song 'love game' came on. They asked " what does that mean" to the part about 'want to ride your disco stick'. I don't think my friend really had listened to the lyrics before. So she was a litte surprised. So she just said ' I don't know' and quickly changed the subject. Amazing what these kids hear!

No they don't. Some songs are not meant to be played on the radio.

No, but another mylot member started a discussion about that same song. I rarely listen to public radio we have Sirius and when I do the kids like the classic rock. Yay, I finally won that fight They use to like rap and got them guitar hero and now, they like it and I don't have to listen to rap.
