I have been to Singapore three times and think it is an excellent destination. It has a river, great shops, a man made beach and a national park. I went to Sumatra in Indonesia and found it a great place for adventure. I liked going caving, swimming in Lake Toba and seeing the orangutans. I didn't have the best luck when I was in Malaysia, first I got ill and then I hurt my leg falling down a drain. I liked seeing an old temple, going shopping and spending time on the palm fringed beaches. Have you been to any of Asia's countries? If so what did you enjoy seeing there? If not which places in Asia would you like to see?

If you are going to for an island, I recommend you to think about Sipadan Island. It is in Sabah (Malaysia). Sipadan Island is the heaven for the diver. It is among the best diving place in the world, if not the best. Your ex-PM (Tony Blair) just went there last month. http://www.sipadan-resort.com/

Hi maximax, I am a bonfaide Asian but unfortunately I have never traveled outside my country. Traveling is a luxury that most of us here cannot afford. But if given the chance, I really would like to visit Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia or Indonesia.

Hi maximax, Sorry to heard your not so well experience in Malaysia. But if you are thinking about come again here, I suggest you to go to other places then Kuala Lumpur. My recommendation is Sabah, The Land Below The Wind. It is in Borneo. There are a lot of lovely place there. You can go to Mt Kinabalu, the highest peak in South East Asia (climbing), Sipilok, Sandakan (Orang Utan), Danum Valley, Lahad Datu (Wildlife experience) or Sipadan, Semporna and Pulau Tiga (Kota Kinabalu) for island, beach, snorkeling and diving experiences. Once you are there, you will always want to come back. Believe me on this. Enjoy your travel and have a nice day.

The most popular place in yogjakarta is malioboro. Malioboro in the night is very friendly and etnic place. Malioboro is name of street. Oh ya, in yogjakarta you can rent "dokar/delman" to a round yogjakarta place. Dokar/delman is vehicles with horse to pull this cart. That is very traditional vehicle from Indonesia, no polution use this vihicle, because horse to move this vehicle. In Yogjakarta you can buy t-shirt "dagadu". masteronline, how come you forgot about Manado and Bangka Belitung? It's the hottest new tourist destination right now. Manado has already well known in the past because the Bunaken, which is a heaven for divers and snorklers because of the beauty of the creature below the ocean. Recently, the tourism really developed significantly because of the international ocean conference held two months ago, and since then there are a lot of festival there. Bangka Belitung is also a hot new tourist attraction because the beauty of its beach which has white sand. If you bored with bali because it is too crowded, you should go here! Manado is located at North Indonesia, Sulawesi island, meanwhile Bangka Belitung is near Sumatera. Happy vacationing!

Hi,maximax. I'm from China. I'm glad that you like your Asian visit. But speaking of Asian country, I should definitely say something about my country---China. Ancient or modern, developed or developing, China has all kinds of historical sites, natural reserves and splendid architectures that catch your eyes. I believe there will still be plenty of places of interest I have never been to yet, when I am too old to walk! Good day. ^_^

Hi Maximax, nice discussion you have there. As for me, I come from Asia, I live in Malaysia, hence I always get the chance to travel country around here. It is cheaper to travel in Asian country compare to traveling to Western country. I have been to Bali, Indonesia, very nice island with beautiful beaches. I like to shop in Bali too. There are many hand made crafts. Second, I like Thailand. I have been to Phuket and Bangkok in Thailand. I like Thai food. I like their language too. Third, I like Singapore. Singapore is so near to my country, but I have not yet been to Singapore. It is a beautiful city. I hope I can go there by this year end.

So far, the only Asian countries I have been to are Malaysia, Japan and Singapore. I have had awesome experiences in all three places. I lived for two years in Malaysia, teaching at a school and one thing I realised about that place is that you have to really know locals to have a good experience: at least in Kuala Lumpur. Shopping is the number one activity in KL, but then there are places like Penang, Cameron and Sarawak where the sight-seeing is amazing. (Or nearer to KL you have Batu Caves and Genting Highlands, etc). Food is a major factor in travelling around Malaysia too! It seems like every area has its own favourite type of food that the locals make better than anywhere else. Japan is incredible too. If you are really into visiting temples then you absolutely have to visit Japan. There are some truly amazing temples including the massive centres of Zen Bhuddism like the Todai-Ji in Nara city which is the largest solely wooden structure in the world and Asakusa shrine in Tokyo through to tiny Shinto or Zen gardens dotted around every town. What really blew me away was finding stone statues (some life-sized, some tiny) in small alleyways in Osaka, forests near Nara and around Izu peninsula and later learning that many of these statues were probably older than the huge temples that everyone visits. Japan is also great for food of course - everyone loves Japanese food right? and you find a surprising variety of different types of foods there - but if you want to do any shopping there you had better sell your house first. I would like to spend more time in Singapore - I've only had a few days there in total, but there seems to be a lot of see in that tiny little country too.

I have been to Singapore too two-times. It is a nice and clean country and tourist friendly and you can go around most of its beautiful places in just 1 to 3 days coz it is just a small country. But most of its tourist attractions are mostly man-made, like the Sentosa island, unlike in some asian countries where you can find natural beautiful tourist attractions. I had also been in Malaysia 4 times already and there are also beautiful places there, some of which are man-made too, like the Sunway Lagoon and Theme Park and Genting Highlands and Theme Park, in which my 2 sons enjoyed when we went there last April-May. Here in the Philippines there are many beautiful and natural tourist destinations like the beautiful beach of Boracay, Palawan's underground cave, the Chocolate Hills of Bohol, Mayon Volcano's perfect cone, the hundred islands in Pangasinan, beautiful city of Cebu and Davao and lots of other destination. I wish I could visit and see some asian countries in the future, if finances and time permit. I like to go to China, Japan, Thailand and probably India.

Hello maximax. I have not been abroad, but I wish to some day when I can financially afford it. Traveling is fun and adventurous. Time and money permitted, I would prefer to pay a visit to those contries next to the south part of China as I think that it is cheaper when they are close to our country. Take care, friend.

Yep, you must visit the Philippines if you like beach resorts and other added attractions. The best gateway is Cebu (plenty of beaches). From there, you can go to Bohol (Chocolate Hills, tarsiers, Loboc river, etc.) Aklan (where the world-famous Boracay white-sand beach resort is located), and many other islands. Palawan is another tourist destination (it has the world's longest subterranean river) plus excellent white-sand beach resorts (e.g., El Nido). In short, since there are more than 3,000 islands in the Philippines, you also have that much of beaches to choose from. The above destinations, however, are the best.

I lived in Indonesia. Very much a place of tourism in Indonesia. More than 50% of places I have visited. In Malaysia (precisely in Kuching - Sarawak - North Borneo), I visited some tourism and museums. In Singapore I am pleased to mall and open restaurants. If I have enough money, I want to visit China and Japan, do not know when.

Asian is fulled of natural resources. Besides it's beautiful tropical forest, they have marvelous island and mountain. Indonesia Yogyakarta has Borobudur. I am planning to visit this ancint city by the end of the year. I was told that this ancient temple is best to visit during sun rise. I love Kuta Bali. The beaches and the town is really relaxing and beautiful.
