So, I have been blogging for a while now and I have recently decided that I want to get my own domain. I have thousands of pictures online, as well as articles and such. I want to be able to get a domain so that on one page I can have my blog. On another, my twitter account. On another, a gallery of all my photos (I want to create this gallery from HTML though, ask if interested in why) And on the last page I want to be able to tell a bit about myself and include relevant links. I want to be able to have the option of creating new pages easily and I want to create a great layout for the site. I was told that domains at godaddy.com are really cheap, so I looked around the site for a bit, and I noticed that you have to register, too. The domain is cheap, but I don't have an extra 25 bucks to register. Is there any way to get around this? I then noticed that you also have to pay for hosting. I have heard a lot about free web hosting, but I haven't checked any of this out yet. I am pretty good with HTML and the likes, and I understand it when I look up references to the coding, but I am a bit rusty. Can someone please help me out with this!?

why do u want to have your own domain..is it useful for any special earning purpose?? You can do blogging at bloggers etc and u get all the facilities ...display one blog on one page and everything u wish...so i dont understand the purpose of owning your own website...maybe i am not knowing the benefits...will you like to share them???

Have you tried website.ws. They will give you a domain name and hosting for 10 bucks a month. Only drawback is, it is a .ws domain. Not much credibility.

I actually found a free one last night that is .at.ua whatever that means. I can use my own domain with this site, too, so I figure that I should start out with this and eventually purchase a domain.

I don't have much knowledge on purchasing domain names but I do know that a lot of domain companies charge a lot more after you renew your domain. You should absolutely check the small letters otherwise you might end up paying more than absolutely necessary.

Yes, I have noticed that when I was looking. It seems that they are so cheap for the first year, but then to keep the domain its about ten times as much money. And obviously you wouldn't want to do all that work on your domain for a year, and then have to change the URL! You would lose so much traffic!

Hello and good day. I'm ready to help but i'm so busy now. The only thing i can do to help is to drop you some hints. I bought my own domain at the same GoDaddy you mentioned and I used it for my Blogger. You can check my Blog at my profile to have a look at the blog. Interestingly, the domain cost me only $1.07, being '.info'. .com goes for less than $8 there. So i don't know where you get the 25 bucks from. Also You may or may not pay for hosting to achieve all these you mentioned above. If not because of my tight schedule now, i would do everything for you in 48 hours. Anyway You can easily have several tabs like you said even with free blogger. It's all about TEMPLATE. Just stroll to Bloggertrics to get a template that has tabs at the top. Download and extract the tab codes to your blog template. Or rather you can Change the entire template to that new one with tabs, modifying the necessary elements. At this stage, you need to follow due process of template installation in order not to lose you previous widgets. Get the procedure from bloggertrics. When you are OK with the layout, then buy the domain and pin it with your free blogger. Bingo! You're done! If you have any serious problem doing this, you may drop me a pm or you rather pm me your ym so that i can help as you progress. Again I believe you don't need any hosting to achieve all these Enjoy yourself and happy mylotting!

I currently use blogger, but I would like to write for a living and having your own domain just looks a little bit more professional. I also want to create my own layout, which is easier to do when I can do a little bit here and there, hit save, and then see what the layout looks like, rather than going through blogger and hoping I didn't mess something up! I plan on embedding my blog onto one of the pages, and having plenty of other pages featuring other things, like a photo gallery, a contact page, links, about me, etc.

Yup i can try my best to help you in getting a domain for yourself. Coz i'm a member of a technical group which provide facilities like domain name registration and web hosting with unlimited space and bandwidth and your customized e-mail id with character catching feature(means any keyword would work to mail you ----like -- ____@yourdomain.com---you can enter any keyword in the spaces and that mail would be sent to your personal master email id) So please give me 2-3 days time so that i can contact my admin if they accept clients from other countries also coz we are India based firm and our main motive is to provide web hosting to all at really affordable prices. I would pm you all the details about this within 2-3 days. Happy mylotting.........

Ha ha lol... You cant get a domain registered to your name for free anywhere in this world.... You definitely had to pay some money to get a domain registered and some more amount of money to host it on some server..... So domain registering is not free.... but sub-domains may be free but it is of no use coz its not your property, its someone else who own the native domain and hold the right to remove it whenever he/she wants...
