hmm...I just saw the trailer for the first time and the CGI didn't blow me away. Sometimes it looked great but in some parts it looked like some crappy videogame (I've seen better animations on PS3 lol). So I guess the CGI is just decent. I'll see the movie for sure and I think it won't be bad at all since Cameron is director but the visuals really disappointed me, at least from what I've seen from the trailer. What do you think? Here's the trailer: http://avatar.substance001.info/

I'll be honest I wasn't that impressed with what I saw and likewise had seen better elsewhere. But then I am not a huge fan of CGI and probably was trying to look for some faults, lol. The thing is this is Cameron doing what he does brilliantly, whipping up so much interest ahead of release that even if Avatar turns out to not be so spectacular there will be enough fanboys jumping on the bandwagon proclaiming how great it is because it's the cool thing to be done. By releasing a teaser trailer he will be able to gather feedback on what people don't like but also grab a lot of attention via the viral nature of the web.

I'm not a huge fan of CGI either. But all the Cameron's promises about how we won't be able to tell if it's real or not and that design of the alien creatures and vegetation on the planet will be like nothing we've ever seen made me kinda excited. It all went down with the first trailer. From what I've seen the media are praising it how incredibly it looks while the people laugh at it.
