I'm curious to know of any movies you know of that are set in Hawaii (of the US). Long story short..I'm writing a paper (for a scholarship) about the portrayal of Hawaii, as a US state, in popular culture. And I thought movies might be a good place to start. Two that I know of are: 50 First Dates Forgetting Sarah Marshall What are some of the other ones you know of? Do you know of any more? (And try to make them within 20 years old, please!) This would help me A LOT. Thanks!

Your in luck I watched one just the other day it was about a surfing competition and it was set in Hawaii the only prob is I can't fully remember the name, I know I am useless sorry lol, it was either The Pipe or Pipeline haha I just looked it up on line and it was called Pipeline. Good luck with paper, infact the film comes from the surfing competition that is held in Hawaii every year as it has the best and biggest Pipeline wave in the world, just a tad more info for you lol

Well as I can't mention the 3 Elvis movies made in Hawaii as they are over 20 years old and you mentioned the two I could easily think off. All I can come up with are 2 movies which were partially shot in Hawaii, and am not sure if the story is primarily set there or not, these are "Blue Crush" and "Punch-Drunk-Love".

My kids love "Lilo and Stitch" and we've seen "Surf up". Can't think of a much later ones but for Hawaii the first things that pops my mind are the old TV series and war movies which is way way over 20 years. Wow, I felt like I'm so detached.
