Is the Crime Rate higher in your hometown than it was a year ago?

I live in this small town. In the past nothing really happened. When it did the whole town knew about it and someone always knew the person or a friend of that person. When crime happened it was such a big ordeal. In the last year things have changed for the worst. There is more crime happening everyday. You hear about someone killing themselves or killing someone. The drugs has gotten really bad. Im not sure where this is coming from or why. Has the crime rates in your area gone up in the last year? What do you think is the main cause for it?

Yes it has gone up. In fact it's tripled over what it was 2 year's ago. So I have to say the economy has really messed thing's up. More people are out of work, so they steal to sell thing's to pay the bill's.

Times are bad and they are getting worse every day. I talked with some locals yesterday and found out that there is more going on then what I thought. Two neigbors are fighting with each other. The kids of each had got into a fight at school yesterday and one got hurt pretty bad. The parents are passing their actions onto their children. That is why things are getting worse. I wish I could help out. Even just one percent.

I've been hearing more sirens lately and cars around my neighborhood are getting their windows broken but it's nothing serious that gets on the news. It is something that worries me a little but at least the police is responding

Oh yeah..Our police are responding to all the calls. It is just that the crime in itself has risen in our community. Like I has said earlier there is more happening that not everyone knows about. Our little community is becoming more of a bigger topic. Not the kind of topic that I would want to brag about. Thanks for your comment.

I couldn't really tell you with certainty either. But I think more or less the crime rate where I live is mostly the same. I'd rather it be lower (well, who wouldn't want that where they live?) but I guess it's better than saying it's higher than last year.

I would have loved to say that the crime rate is the same or better yet that it was lower than last year. But I guess that with the way our society is today then we should know that the crime rate is going to up. People are getting their priorty in the wrong direction. I wish only the best for our country.

Yeah, basically. before, these were all just houses, they were all big. until two decades later, from business to business establishment. residential is converting into either semi or commercial businesses. well, more products to buy at a near store, but problem is more trash and more strange annoying people

Nowadays newspapers and local news channels devote most of their time and content on reporting crimes. It seems people have become weary of what politicians are saying and doing, and floods and droughts are depressing news anyway. At least crime news has some story in it, and therefore, crime sells. Who did what, why, how, and what is the story behind it. Journalists are feeding volumes of it. May be it was there even before this. But many such things were not reported. So we never knew the exact statistics. I have not experienced any in person, but I came to know that of late, thefts have increased. People traveling with money are accosted, and while their attention is diverted, the accomplice takes away the monies. Another type of crime is robbing the rich and wealthy. Some well dressed and well mannered people get friendly with people of that group. They reach the wealthier ones in the group. One fine day they go and stay in their homes, and take away all the gold and jewelry. :-) I dont really know how much of it is true. If newspapers say they are on rise, I have little choice but to believe it. :-)

Newspaper do try to keep us updated on what is going on within our community. I have found out that there is a lot more going on than what is reported to the news. There was a few young people going door to door selling magazines. They would collect a down payment and tell the people their order would be shipped and the remaining balance be billed. These orders was never submitted. It was a scam. I would have never dreamed of something like this a year ago.
