Catholic Religion - Good or Not Good?

I'm a non-practicing Catholic-by no means an expert. We didn't really go to church growing up, I went to CCD on Sat mornings, that was about it. I'm trying to find a good church now-any religion, and it's so hard. We have a lot of Baptist churches here, and I've got some problems with them. I'm leaning towards finding a non-denominational church. The problem I have with the Catholic church, I don't agree with a lot of their practices. Like confession, God is the only one that can forgive you of your sins, not a priest. It's almost like they make stuff up to keep people in line-like purgatory. Do a lot of research online, try to find a site that's not judgmental/one side, and it's hard because everyone feels their religion is the only one. So many religions claim to be peaceful, but yet all they preach is hate. If you don't agree with their ways, you're going to hell and that's that. And they all have their own spin on what the Bible actually says. Sorry, not much help. Good luck to you!
