Am living in a country whereby Policemen are the list trusted and also the most corrupt people in the country. Their is no day that would pass by without me see a police man taking a bribe from some one and the most annoying sight is whereby our P.S.V (we call them Matatu's in this part of the world) would carry more than the capacity and the people entertaining this are the policemen. when the new goverment was elected, the people wanted change and mostly the culture of (T.K.K) Meaning in English give me something small, but so far nothing has changed. Do you have corrupt police men in your place or even corrupt people who are supposed to give services to your people but instead use the oppotunity robbing them their money with the powers given to them.

yes, we do have corrupt policemen although not all of them. They do certain things to earn money while on duty. Some of them protect illegal business. Some of them even own illegal business. Others abuse their authority by terrorizing neighbors. These are some of the things that make me say there are corrupt policemen in out country. I even have an experience. I reported an incident but i felt embarrassed because they did not take me seriously. They were laughing and took the case i reported lightly. For me that one incident changed how i look at them. Although i do not generalize because I still hear stories of bravery and loyalty from this people.

The answer is yes. For example, I have never seen policemen in my country who do not take bribe when a driver disobey the traffic rules. Rarely we get ticket to fine us and from the driver perspective, we also don't want to waste our time in the court to resolve the case. Also, the policemen also often ask for a "fee" to business owners to "protect" the business. Law enforcement image here is quite negative, but I think the police is now trying to fix it gradually. Hope we can see a better police officer in the future.

corruption is a part of every culture and the policemen are just the most visible and most of the time are not really minded of because of the notion that its a part of daily living

Here's what i have to say on this issue. Whether policemen or not, there are corrupt people in this world. If you were to talk into a crown of people and gather up a group of say 25 differnt individuals, i am sure that at lesat one or two of them would be okay with doing something immoral or unethical if it were going to benefit them. So i would have to say, yes, i am sure there are some police officers in the united states who are "corrupt", but i would never ever even THINK of these people as bieng a majority or even common! Maybe i am just biased...as my father is a police officer, and a damn good one at that. Being a police officer and protecting and serving the public is his passion in life. He would never ever take a bribe, or "look the other way" in order to benefit himself, or under the pressure of someone else. Infact, we moved quite often as he got convieniently "laid off" for various reasons, after not heeding the city councilmens "suggestions" that certain people should be above the law just because of who they are etc. But i guess this just proves your point that people in positions of power try to use their power to influence others.... i guess i just have to say that yes, there may be SOME corrupt police officers out there, but the majority of them are not.
