A bunch of Day/Weekend Trips or ONE two week Excursion??

I'm getting fully annonyed with DH... Before we had our son, we used to vacation twice a year, for 10-14 days, usually in the Keys or Southern FL. Understandabley, we haven't vacationed like this in over 4 years... My point is, while my son is still young for a two week vacation, why in the HECK can't we take little mini vacations???!!! I would much rather take several weekend trips; there are so many things that are within a few hours driving that we could do with our son... But my DH doesn't think it's worth it... He wants ALL or NOTHING. So because we can't afford an extravagant, full two week long vacation for the three of us, we can't do anything... I say, but we CAN afford to do THIS or THAT for 2 or 3 days, why not enjoy it?? Which would you rather?? Have little experiences a few times a year or have only one experience every few years??? I feel as though we're missing out on doing some really fun things with my little boy just because my DH and I think differently about HOW to vacation.... Thoughts??
