How involved do you get in your children's school?

My daughter's school really expects us parents to be involved, which definitely is a good thing. We have lots of activities. They are fun and lets me interact with other parents that I don't normally see. How are your schools? Do they expect a lot from the parents? And not just helping your children with the schoolwork and making sure they do it. How involved do you get?

My child's school doesn't ask alot however they would take all the help they could get. I volunteer as much as I can and my oldest daughter goes with me. I have always has a good relationship with my daughters teachers and help as much as possible.

I try to volunteer as much as I can also. There are a lot of things I can't help out with, since I work full time. If I didn't have to work as much as I do, I would probably be at the school all the time. They really need so much help, and my daughter gets so excited when I go. It's nice to get to know the teachers also. Thanks for your post!

I am very much involved when it comes to schooling of my children, parents should be very much involved with their studies, we don't need to all takes it for the teachers responsibility but we should need to help or follow them when they reach home. I need to spend 1 hour or 2 in assisting them in their school works every day so that I know if they all do their assignments, even my college student I really checked him if he goes to school I talked with the teachers if they are doing good in class or I see to it that if there are problems regarding their studies.

My kid's school has so many activities that they want parents to get involve. I et so many papers and flyers everyday they caome from school and that's not just their homework. Math fun night, reading night, pizza night. U sually i try to sort all those activities, which I can attend and which I cannot. Sometimes it's just hard to keep up.

Funny that this discussion should come up today, when I just got home from the first PTA meeting of the year at my daughter's school. I'm the secretary of the PTA board at her school. We are actually trying to rejeuvenate the PTA because last year they lost a lot of their students with redistricting so last year was just a try and get by year. This year we are trying to actually get some things going. For my daughter's school, I like to volunteer in every way that I can. I volunteer to chaperone on field trips and I also volunteer for the PTA. I volunteer for the classroom parties and really any way that I can. They don't ask a whole lot of us, it is just something that I want to do.
