Worst things about a retail job?

Besides the late hours and working on holidays what are the things that tick you off the most? Personally I cant stand it when som eone walks into my store and I ask them how are you doing today and they reply Im just looking. I mean what in the hell is that? I asked a question about your state of being not what action you are currently invovled in. If this is a typical response for you ...be ashamed very ashamed! Please comment.

i hated it when I worked at KMart a customer would return an item and it was obviously worn, had stains and smelled like smoke! And we had to accept the item back because they had their receipt. Thats not fair to the other customers have to buy already used items

I know and that is wrong. I have sold shoes and you cant imagine what we ahave seen. These just dont look right with my outfit and Ive only worn them 5 times. But remember how great of a customer i am.

I personally think stores should throw out that whole "the customer is always right" rule and reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who is rude and obnoxious.

Absolutely, it is a two-way street. The customer is right well...when they are right and no more. They get my respect and I deserve theirs.

Thats why i would hate to work in retail, I couldnt stand having to work with the public..people are so rude and disrespectful and it would be too hard for me to bite my tongue!

I live in the south and by nature we are fairly polite and courteous. I cant imagine in the hustle and bustle of a major city like N.Y. or Chicago. Plus i believe bad weather makes many of our northern visitors more edgy than they should..eg.( snowbirds).

happens everyday. I will literally walk right up to them and make my presence known if that happens.
