What reporter on what network? Obama's had more vacations since getting into office than I've had in 20 years.

The reading of the book is a bone of contention but I think if you realize that he was in a classroom of second-grade children, reading a book to them when he was informed of the plane hitting the WTC, you have to wonder if getting up and rushing out would have been the best plan. Had he done so, I am sure there would have been complaints that he needless frightened the children and caused a panic when there was nothing he could do. You may not realize it, but although he is Commander-in-chief of the armed forces, he isn't actually manning the radar and flying the planes and driving the tanks himself. He also did not rush off to be taken to a secure location until the reading with the children was done. One might argue that this showed a calm strength and courage and deliberation. Others argue that it showed he didn't care or knew about it in advance. As you say about Obama, some might wonder why he didn't bring up health care and others might wonder why he would bring it up on this occasion - in some situations there will be those who criticize you no matter what you do. I think the same is true of Bush and the children he was reading to at the time the attacks were being carried out.

You and I may not agree on some things, but I agree with you on this one. To top it all off, they were wanting him to mention healthcare, and then the next day he would be a terrible person for mentioning it. It is a no win situation, like you said.
