Have you ever felt embarrassed?

This is something which we try to avoid to the maximum, but somehow we do fall into such a situation sometime. I once took a bus and paid the conductor some change which I presumed to a Rs.2 coin. The conductor pointed an accusing finger at me saying that it was a Rs.1 coin and not a Rs.2 coin. I felt silly when all the people in the bus turned to look at me thinking that I was trying to cheat the conductor. It was so embarrassing.

One year I went to a family reunion at a local park. We were discussing how small our family had gotten due to the deaths and not enough births. Somewhere in the conversation, my dad's cousin said that she was at least 10 years older that my dad. I thought it was the other way around. Well when she corrected me, I said, "Wow, I feel retarded now, I thought he was older than you." The embarrassing part is that she is mentally hadicapped, and before the politically correct term was in place, "mentally retarded" was the words used. I said that I felt "retarded" because I was wrong. And to this day, I still cringe when I think about it. I didn't even realize what I had said until I went back inside and thought about it. Boy, I feel like an idiot. Needless to say, I never say things like that anymore.

It happens in the spurt of the moment and was definitely not intentional. However, like you say, it must have been embarrassing for you and your aunt. Thanks for the post.

yes, you're right. We go through this phase just about every other day in our life. It becomes difficult to master this because these happen in different circumstances and places. However, we can try and correct ourselves from commiting a similar goof-up the next time we come to a similar situation. Thanks for the post.
