what is real love

A lot of people describe love in many different ways, but i believe that if you say you love someone the good that you want for your self you desire it for your mate. A lot of people say they are in love they beat and embarrass their mate, and treat them degrading and let they say they are in love. I believe that love is kind, considerate, does not seek his own, patient, long suffering, gentle. And if someone say they are in love they will not say or do things that will hurt their mate, because its as if they are hurting them self.

Although not Christian, I firmly believe in one particular part of the Bible... I Corinthians 13:4-13:7 " Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. " Take note... no mentions of the words "perfect" or "if". Love.. real love.. is ever giving while being ever taking... it's a constant exchange of one's self with another. Love.. is ever changing, but always remains.... Love.. is forgiving. This is cheesy to hear.. but love is like a car. Work hard on maintaining it.. invest in it, and it can last a very very very long time. We invest a lot of time and care into our cars... love and relationships should be the same way.

i was about to post this verse also as my response for this discussion but since you already posted it then i totally agree with this verse... love makes people fulfilled but you'll undergo a lot in order to sustain it...

I think that love cannot be expressed in words, its a sense of feeling for someone special, whom we like the most. When we are in love with someone, we always think better for our beloved one.

love can be what ever you want it to be. i read in a book, something interesting about love. it said inmature love said " i love you cause i need you" and mature love said "i need you cause i love you" it made sense when i thought about my relationship.
