Do You Have Good Tap Water In Your City....

Canada

....or do you prefer bottled water? I am very fortunate to live in a city with clean, safe, and delicious tap water. The water here in Guelph has always been wonderful, and to those who are really picky, some houses have wells. My grandparents old house (now my Aunt's) has a well, and the water there is wonderful too. I refuse to buy bottled water because of the cost of it, and the fact that those bottles will just fill up the dump sites, and won't biodegrate for decades!! So, how is the water where you live? Can you and will you drink it right out of the tap, or do you prefer bottled water? BTW, the stuff here in Guelph, although it's a little hard, tastes so good we don't even have to filter it!

GOOD MORNING, We do have good water here, thank heavens. I never buy bottled water either, I have a hard time paying the price they get for a bottle of water. Seems to me it has got to be a status symbol[in their opinion] to bring a bottle of water w/you at sport events or wherever. Since i have never been one to keep up w/the jones[old saying here]i'll just carry mine in a fruit jar from home.

Personally most places the water is HORRIBLE. You would have to filter it for me to even consider wanting to drink it. Even if you mix it like with Crystal Light it helps a little bit, but you can taste the funny taste. Would Love to consider getting a filter, etc. and then try it. At work they say the water is filtered, but it is beyond horrible. So for me, I have to drink bottled water instead.

Yes. You are very lucky to have clean tap water. Our water here is not very pure at all. I do not drink it. I cook with it sometimes though. I prefer my water from my refrigerator or bottled.

our tap water..is disgusting. lick a metal pole, and you know what it tastes like.it's failed 4 years running now,and it's supposedly still safe. however, after living in tucson, arizona i will never complain about new england water.that CAP stuff out there gave me skin rashes from all the lime in it.

Hi danishcanadian! We do not have good tap water in our city. We do not take chances drinking water straight from the faucet. It is not safe. We might just get sick if we do so. We might as well boil it. Or, we'd rather buy bottled water.

We have pretty safe water here, although recently they have started putting more chemicals into it! Most people drink it and think that it is OK, but we are really health conscious in our family, so we do not! We used to filter our tap water but since they recently put flouride into the water, we have started buying large bottles of spring water from the mountains near our home! This gets filtered and bottled only a few minutes from our house and it is pretty cheap! It tastes really good and has loads of minerals and no harmful chemicals!

We may have good tap water where I live, but it doesn't taste too good! I buy water filters and filter the tap water into a jug and drink that. It does taste a lot better because it removes most of the chemicals that are used to purify the water. It is strange sometimes though, I see animals drinking stagnant water and it never seems to hurt them.. So... No, on second thoughts, I don't think I would want to try drinking that! - Derek

yes and thank goodness for that! tap water in my city can be drank without boiling. in fact, i drink straight from the tap most of the times. i like the taste of tap water more than boiled water. as for bottled water, i avoid them as far as possible. it's so un-environmentally friendly and a real waste of resources.

I'm in S. Florida and my tap water is nasty! The chlorine is so strong you can smell it. I can't even use it for making tea. But, bottled water gets expensive as well. So, we have a Brita water pitcher to filter it and we use that. It works well for us. Cheaper than a big purifying system!

hi danishcanadian! Here in my city, we have bad tap water, although it has no colour. Never drink from it since I was born, I guess. I assume that 90% of houses in all provinces here in Indonesia use gallon / bottled water. We only use tap water for washing, laundrying, etc. There are still many parts in my country have muddy waters with high tin-content, as well :( Water filter still costs us a lot here, so it's not that popular here. 5 gallon of water cost around US$1,2 here (depends on the distributor), and for us it's expensive. Currently, there's also this water comes from reverse-osmosis system (I don't know how it works), and being said that it's as good as the usual galloned water. I don't know the quality, though :( So, lucky you that you have good tap water :)

The water in central Illinois is pretty good. It's only been in the last month where I've noticed a "chlorine taste" in the water. That's primarily due to the fact that we've gotten a lot of rain recently. This is a welcome change from the last two places I lived where the water was over-chlorinated all the time. The second place was the City of Boston. Great city, but perhaps not with the drinking of the city water.

I live in the suburbs and lucky to have very good water in my compound itself. Although we are close to a main highway, strangely enough we don't have water from the mains. The water we get is pumped up from a deep well in our garden by motor to a tank and the water is fresh and nice when it comes out of the tap. Even so, as taught by my mother, we still boil and filter it before using it for drinking. We never use bottled water for daily consumption.

We have a good tap water in our place from the well or through public waterworks. We also buy bottled water if we go to other places for safety.

In our area we have good water supply every alternate days. The water is very sweet and I do not feel like drinking water if I go out of station. I am used to drinking this tasty water that I do not feel like drinking the tasteless water in those places. It does not quench my thirst.

I've lived in so many cities that I just buy bottled water because it so much easier to do those drop ins. The kids like bottled water too, now I know some people might growl at the landfills full of empty plastic bottles but I try to recycle, as long as I get paid for it. I'll drink tap water but its not my first choice.

Hi danishcanandian. I am also proud to be in Malaysia as we too do not suffer from having dirty water streams. I agree with you that buying bottled water is costly and its just waste of money. Well we do not have well in our place but the water from the tap is good enuf.

Here the tap water is good. Never had any problems with it. I just fill in an empty bottle with the tap water and drink it all day. I only buy bottled water when I am away from home and I get thirsty.
