Before my current age, I used to change cars every 5 years. These days, I hardly want to change my car. A car is a depreciating liability. What we need to do is to maintain it well and it will give you many years of service. How often do you change your car?

I have no set time or amount of years that i will change my car, it is totally dependant on me seeing a car that i like and want to buy. I never buy a brand new car i always buy used. I work in the motor industry so seeing the depriciation even moreso puts me off. I always have a car for at least a year though, i like to make sure i have gotten my moneys worth out of it, unless it has become a particularly troublesome car, then i will just sell it and buy something else. I have had my car for over 2 years now and i want a new one but i havent seen anything that i like or want to buy though

Funnily enough i looked into a Cayenne but the depriciation on those is unbelieveable, you can buy a 3 year old one for around £15,000, love them but thats too big of a loss for me. Think i'll stick to VW's as they hold their money better

Hi, I am still driving my first car from day one. It is a very good car, and very faithful too. I have been driving it for 17 years. If I am still working and earn a fixed monthly income, I will consider changing / upgrade my car. Buying a car need to consider many aspects...it is not buying an asset like house or land, it is a depeciating item like machinery- therfore it is more like a 'libaility' even though in Accounting we called it 'Fixed Assets' We need to consider the service cahrges, insurance coverage and many more hidden cost involved. Therefore, with my current financial situation, no plan of buying a new car at all! Thanks and take care!

Zero Times because I don't have a car. I walk everywhere I go. I live in Vegas so everything I need is relatively close by. If I need to get anywhere too far out, I take the bus which is excellent here. It's much cheaper than gas. It's good for your health to walk too, except for when it get really hot, which it's been doing for while now, we've had 100+ degree weather for 2 months... remember to pack bottled water!

I have only been driving now for almost 2 years . When i decided to learn we found a old car, It was only 600 dollars, and it had almost 200,000 miles on it. but we figured that if i was going to ding it up better a old one. Well i have got my six hundred dollars worth out of this old car, and it is still running good I go all over the place in it, and the only ding i got is when someone hit me in a parking lot while i was parked, and in the store. The people that had this car before me took very good care of it,and i have been doing the same, and it has a lot of life left in it. and i will probably be driving it till it can not be driven anymore, and then i will get another one.

Our cars are between 10 and 15 years old. They do need up-keep but they are still running and we do not have to make payments on them. Our cars are not the slickest on the road, but there is a good feeling that we probably are one of the very few that do not have to make regular car payments. There are repairs, but when averaged out the cost is much less than payments and at the end of the day we own them and the bank is not making money from our interest payments and living in castles while we live in huts. This is a winning combination for us for now!
