We had record low temps again last night...it's not even September and we were down in the 40's last night....I don't want to turn the furnace on just to take the chill off so I'm going to make a small batch of cookies...chocolate chip! So if you were going to bake some cookies today what kind would you bake?

Hi Jill, Mmmm...Cookies sound good,I love cookies many kinds, shortbread, Sandies and of course chocolate chip. Today I feel like lemon cookies, probably because it is 92 degrees here.lol My Daughter is coming to visit tomorrow and we will make a batch of German waffles add a big scoop of whipping cream and cherries from a jar on top! I can't wait. Enjoy your Cookies:)

very much like american waffles, yet a little different. The waffles are firmer and are eaten with either the whipping cream and cherries or "milk rice" which is rice cooked in milk with a few drops of vanilla, when the rice is cooled and thick it's spooned on the waffle and eaten like you would a taco, no knife and fork here lol. Butter eggs ( like 6 of them ) Flour Milk Vanilla sugar a little baking powder then bake the waffles in a waffle iron cool and enjoy :) If you like I will post the recipe I just have to convert the mesurements. Blessings, BTW: how did your cookies turn out?

It would be a toss up of peanut butter or chocolate chip. I haven't had either in a long time. The humid weather kept me away from the oven. Now that it is cooled off I too had been thinking about baking.

If I were to bake a batch of cookies today I would probably do peanut butter since they are one of my favorites. It was a high of around 80 here today, but it has been in the 50's in the morning time. Not cold, but chilly in the mornings here.

They are really good when I smash up some toffee into bits and stir it into the dough too.

This is crazy! I almost wore my winter coat today as the wind was so chilly and really bit you in the back! I hope this isn't an indication of a bad winter!

I would definitely bake chocolate chip cookies. Unfortunately, I would eat them all and there wouldn't be any to share. I am an oinker when it comes to sweets! We've had much cooler weather in Missouri also. Need to get the furnace serviced this year. It's a gas furnace and am never anxious to let it go. I can see us having to turn it on early this year. Was in the 50's here this morning but should warm up later to the 70's. Generally it's close to 90 or 100 degrees this time of the year. It's crazy!

Sure you can keep baking cookies to keep warm. Only problem might be you won't fit through the door when you go out to buy the electric heater...lol Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Wow, that is cold for this time of year. Today and yesterday have been so nice in Oklahoma. It's been in the high 80s during the day (high 60s at night), but not much humidity compared to what we usually get in August. For baking cookies I'd bake sugar cookies. They are my favorite. Or lemon cookies. I like to just add some zest of lemon into the sugar cookies. It is so tasty!

My , My, Jill. I hate very low temperatures. It is so nice just to curl up in bed and sleep all day long.lol... and I'm sure those chocolate chips would be delectable..yummy. May I have one please? If I were to bake some , I would bake some "Ube" cookies, these are cookies from sweet yam and add some icing too...cookies with icing. wouldn't that be unique and delicious?

Today, actually, I am going to bake cookies! Haha, since it's close to Christmas now, and snow is everywhere, I'm going to make up a couple batches of sugar cookies for my sweets bags. I'm also going to finish my chocolate covered pretzels, most likely make up a batch of no-bake cookies, and perhaps I'll work on those brownies too. =] Busy busy day! Luckily to pass the baking time, I'll sit around here on Mylot.
