I love to eat crab very much. Even though it is very hard to eat it. I prefer to eat crab at the Chinese stall, so that I don't have to use the fork and knife and follow all the hotel-table-manner. I can just grab it using my hands.lol. Do you like to eat crab? Do you use all the fork and knife or just your bare hands? Please share..

Hi genius_zelda, thanks for posting here. Yea, you can just enjoy it on a plate. Though it is convenient, but i still prefer to have it with the meat still inside the shell. The trouble to get the meat amongst the shell, just make it become more irresistible :)

LOL agree with that point of course, my mother is the one who dislike my style when eating crabs, she always said this phrase over and over again "eating the crab along with it shell is the art philosophy of life, one must suffered and tired first to get the joy and satisfaction of what we do" i believe that until now, but i cant resist to open the crab shell ,

I do not know why I am responding to this discussion while I do not eat crab. But honestly i have tried it in a Chinese Restaurant in Singapore. It was nice but still I cannot take it because of religion issue. But when I am looking at my friends, they really enjoyed eating crabs. They do not even have the hard time taking out the shells. They are experts. Hehe. Keep posting. Happy mylotting. Have a nice day. Jeff

Hi yuansplace, thanks for posting here, though you don't eat crab. Haha. I'm appreciate that. Fortunately crab is not an issue in my religion. Yea, i heard before, crab can be an issue in some religions. I don't have problem with eating crab, if i am using my bare hands. But it can be very troublesome if i have to use all the forks and knife given. I had to be very careful and cautious, as the knife can be very slippery on the shell, and I don't want to make ashamed of myself, with my crab jump to next table. Have a nice day..

I love crabs, lol. It's pretty much impossible to use fork or knife and all to eat it, it's just messier like that so it's easier to use my own bare hands. Even though that looks like you don't have much table manners... I like to eat crabs anyway so I don't really care! lol It's just hard to eat one these days because it's kind of expensive to buy in my area. Other than that, it's great :)

Yea, this happen to me too. the shell is just too slippery when I tried to operate it with the knife, it slip out from my plate, and my knife hit the plate. It just too loud and I'm so embarrassed. i end up using my bare hands =)

Hi, thanks for sharing here. Yea, it always easy just to use our bare hands. At least we can hold it firmly, rather than to use the fork on it as it might fly to somebody else table. lol.

Hi gomaeann, thanks for sharing here. You should try to eat the whole crab. For me, even the taste might be the same, but yet eating the whole crab can be more fun and tempting, as you really focus on getting the meat amongst the shell. If you got chance to eat the whole crab, try to observe those that eating the whole crab too. You can see how they focus on the 'battle' to get the meat, there is not much conversation. **I can become a very good listener, when I'm eating crab. lol. people tend to move their head up down, or left right, as a response. lol..

Hi. de_angel97. I don't ever eat crabs at all. I know that I never will either. Crabs are not considered to be one of my favorite type of sea foods. I always thought that it is best to eat crabs with your bare hands, of course that is how I have seen many crab eaters eat crabs.

Hi DEangel97 I love crab I like Dungeonous crab the best (I don't think I spelled that right) their pretty expensive though I will Alaskan Crab but I have to say I don't like regular Bay Crabs just not enough meat in them for me I don't like picking through them thats why I only eat crab legs :-) they are a lot easier to eat. I don't mind using my hands at all using a knife and fork would be useless to me crabs are finger food except for softshell I know some folks who do use a knife and fork for softshell crab .

Hi Cherryd41 , thanks for sharing here. Wow, that 'Dungeonous' sounds yummy.lol. I like any type of crab. I know there is a Chinese style, they use salt in the cooking. And the way they cook it made the shell become soft and crispy, and eatable. I never try, and not sure whether it is healthy to eat the shell. Gonna to try someday =)

Saying 'thank you' means that you are showing your appreciation. I live in a country where most people practice appreciation to each other (due to government campaign, but not everyone practicing it). I am the type that think it never hurt to say our appreciation, even when my students submit their report, I'll say 'thanks'. I don't take all members respond for granted, that's why I always say 'thank you' and mean it. Cheers =) "I can no other answer make, but, thanks, and thanks." ~ William Shakespeare ~

hello, I really love your topic. I can relate to this. Crab is my favorite dish. Whenever there is a crab I tend to reach out and get a whole of it. The thing is I don't know how to eat this crab. Usually when I'm at home eating crab I have my mother to get the meat of it to my plate. When I'm alone I love to eat it but I can't because all I can eat is the shell and not the meat inside of it. That's my whole crab experience. Sad to say that I only know how to eat the meat but to peel of the meat from the shell is really hard.

Yes, it is indeed very difficult to eat the crab although I love eating it. For that reason , I prefer to takeaway the dish and slowly enjoy it using my hands in the comfort of my home. That way, I can really take my time to enjoy my crab without having to worry about the messiness :)

i don't eat crab. it is freaking expensive out here. and also i don't like it that much. i do like it but for the price to pay or buy it i just can afford to buy those small crabs which are also expensive. but the big crabs the real juicy and with more meat in it are like cost a fortune so i had not been able to eat for the longest time to eat that .

hi, thanks for sharing here. Yea, sometimes crab can be very costly. I just found a Chinese restaurant at my place here where the crab is really affordable. It just cost us RM12 per kg. About USD 3.4 per kg. Tempting right? The crab is big and fresh. It was really a lot, i ate until my jaw too tired to eat anymore. It is a bliss..

Crab is actually my favorite food and we never eat this out at restaurants as it would probably take forever. We do this about twice a year at home as it is expensive to have them. I of course use the little crab forks as it is easier to use those then a bigger fork, after a while goes by of eating them your hands start to hurt, but its a never ending thing of eating them because i like the taste of them so much and they are very delicious to me. it might take a while to eat them but your eating what you like

Hi lologirl. You are right, most of the time it is my mouth that hurt instead of my finger, but it won't stop me. The crab is just irresistible. The price of the crab can be very cheap if you live somewhere near the sea side.

I like eating crab. I will use my bare hand to eat crabs. That's more tasty using bare hands to eat crab. From my point of view, it is impossible to eat crab using fork and spoon.Very difficult to eat till the inner part of the crab.Using hand to eat crab is the best. Although it might looks dirty, we can simply wash our hands clean after enjoying the plate of crabs. I have not been eating crab for so long.Maybe more than a year. Eating crab needs alot of time and it is not suitable to bring small kid while we are out for crab eating.I prefer to eat slowly and enjoyed the sweet taste of the crab meat rather than eat in rush.

Hi, thanks for sharing here. Great you know how to prepare a crab meal. It's very rare for me to eat crab at home, as people said you need to buy those crab that still alive. My mum just can't make it if it still alive, or kill it. None of us in the family can do it. So, the only chance is to eat at outside. I never try to have it with the coconut milk. thinking of it now, I'm hungry already. I like the one cook with cheese, 'Gam heong' crab (it is a Chinese Style) and boiled crab. Slrpp...
