Which kind of internet connection do you use ?

Internet connections come in various modes like broadband, dial-up or prepaid. Which one do you use? which is more economical and beneficial? How much does it cost monthly? I use broadband at 64 kbps for 24 hours a day with unlimited download facility and it sets me back by Rs 500/-(approx. $11) per month. If I were to use higher speed it would cost me nearly $22. But I find the present speed adequate for my work. If I am to go for more ptc sites then I will have to consider going for higher speed but it should be worth while. How much you spend monthly on this? Do you earn enough from the net to offset this?

i have cable internet since its the fastest i can get here.. dsl is horrible here and dial up is out of the question.. i think i pay like 50 or 60 bucks a month for it and no i dont make enough to offset it but i do save money by using the internet for shopping and finding deals so maybe it does even out somewhat.. plus if i didnt have the fast internet i might blow my money going to the movies or something that would end up costing me more

As long as you get value for money which ever way things are fine. Sometimes we do not get the bandwidth and the speed from our local ISP and so we are forced to do with what we have. Thanks for your response.

I used Sify Broadband and i am using 256 kbps Unlimited Plan and that is for 900 rs($20). I got golden in neobux and premier in palmbux 7-8 months back and that is why i could earn $40-50 from net and i pay my net fee.

I just only though if this is repeated discussion that happen I response again. But as I remember now, that discussion is not yours. But that is from India... I just said that because it is the same in format...don't mind about it. Have a nice day!

Hi, Have you heard of bottlenecks causing traffic jams on mainstreets. Well to put it straight it may not be the service provider who is slowing down your speed but your opening of simultaneous sites which is causing traffic jam on your computer highway. Try and open only sites that you actually require and close which you are not using concurrently and you will find yourself cruising along on autopilot. As regards to repetition of topics, sir you can always desist from responding but not without understanding that every view will have a different review and we all stand to gain something here at mylot. All the same I am grateful for your kind response.Thanks.

I am using SMART broadband wireless connection with a canopy antenna on my house ceiling. I get piss offit's been quite a 6 days from the day i make a report to my internet operator. They says they gonna scheduled a contractor technician to check in my antenna troubles, up to now their still no inspectors. I really feel annoying and i only uses the signals from a wireless routers courtesy of my neighbors who get her routers open without a password. my WIFI laptop sniff it, it is the only way i get an internet connection and its kinda slow..I almost pay every months $21 and i do not like the services. I plan to terminate it after I finish my contract with them...They always advance to charge me and asking about the days I have not been connected if they gonna discount it in my monthly bills..??

I am using cable connection that gives me 5512kkbps internet speed,, it's pretty decent connection and I'm very satisfied with it... I only pay Php998 a month (that's about $20 more or less)... I would say it's really worth it... coz I got the cable hooked on my son's computer, than I bought a router to send me wireless connection to my laptop any where in the house... When I go out, i always take with me my Smartbro (kind of a USB connection that gives me terrible connection, but is good when there's nothing else...)I only load it with credits when I need to use it, and is pretty convenient for me since I onle transfer credits from my mobile phone to the internet..they are the same service provider...

Hi, Thats a pretty cool way of multitasking your ISP provider and maximising its utility value even when you realise its drawbacks and yet recognises its positives to lend you support indoors and outdoors too. Happy mylotting and thanks for sharing your secrets and I hope all of us can learn something from here.Way to go lady.

Well a month ago I relied on the B.S.N.L Wireless internet connection, that had to be paid on the basis of time for an hour its cost was around 25 cents but which was really slow, but now I have switched to the same service but with the extra speed option, not much though, but its unlimited, for around 6 dollars a month.I am actually satisfied because there aren't ,much errors.

Hello, Your consolidated bills looks inflatory but your actual internet bill may be the lowest of the lot as telephony is tad costlier than internet. Anyways since you are always connected you could offset some of the expenses by earnings from the net in general and mylot in particular while enjoying the homely atmosphere and camadarie at mylot. Happy myloting and thanks for your response.

I do have a broadband connection with speed of 768 kbps. I pay around Php899.00 (approx. $20). I would love to have a higher speed because I always download movies tv series, anime ang manga. I earn enough to offset the cost of the internet. I am more concerned though with the electricity here.

There are faster ways to download movies but unfortunately I am not very conversant with the procedure, so i cant help you on that at the moment.Electricity consumption is in no ones hand as it is a local problem and we have to live with it.So grin and bear it. Regards

Hmmm i dint face any such problems till now, ya its a postpaid as its a landline connection.. I have two landline connections,I had Broadband connection in the other line but their service was so horrible ,had to disconnect the broadband connection and applied for Airtel, no problem since then.. and about the free calling plans, i opted for it.. if not, then the monthly payment would be still lower.. and ya they will always try to get us into some plans which will have hidden charges, its up to us to ask someone who has opted for that plan or call customer care and get details about that plan.. Thank You..

Hi, Thats a nice plan but keep track for hidden conditions which are not so visible in the broad spectrum of our daily activities on the net. You did not mention whether it is prepaid or postpaid as they have different ways of getting to you in postpaid connections especially when you have a telephone connection as a freebie. Basically they will provide telephony free and then surreptiously charge you for a plethora of services that you neither require or has ever asked for.Be vigilant and happy mylotting. Thanks for your response.

My wife subscribe for Streamyx broadband. The speed is very fast! She is paying RM88.00 per month (USD1 = RM3.5) I don't think we can cover the cost last time. My wife is only getting about RM70 a month from myLot recently. We are earning from our blogs about RM10 per month. It seems we have to work harder next year once I am retired. My son need this internet facility for his daily school work. He is the one who suggest to us to blog so that can earn some money to offset the bills. But in actual fact, the electricity bill, the computer usage and time need to be taking into consideration too!

Hello, In fact I do feel you are more than making up for what you are paying for your internet. You would have anyways gone ahead and got yourself an internet connection just for the sake of your child's education. What you earn from the net can be considered as a monthly bonus as your actual ROI (Return On Investment) will commence only on the completion of your child's education and his subsequent placement in life. So lay back and enjoy your 'unretired' bonus benefits. Happy myloting and interneting.

i am using unlimited broadband which costs me around $20 a month. it is above 256 kbps depending on the traffic. the services are good and reliable and i am not facing any problem with it. my earnings from 'net' almost covers the cost but then i don't use net only for earnings.

I use broadband (dsl) It sets me back around 39.99 a month. In my we have a private phone company who has monopoly on the internet that is not dial-up. It is unlimited but costs more than what I would like to pay for what i get. Each time you speed up it is an extra $10. If I lived in a bigger town there would be inless possibilities for my internet connection.

Hi, It is good that you have a broadband connection to your internet, but having a monopoly ISP does have its pitfalls as they know you dont have much or in your case no choice at all so they can fleece you at will. Yes it is true a bigger locality has more oppurtunities and we can choose our priorities. But atleast you do have a internet provider so let us be thankful for that. Thanks for your response.

64kbps? are u sure that's a broadband connection? i'm not a computer wiz but that sounds a dial-up connection. Anyway, I also use a broadband connection but its 1Mbps with unlimited use and I pay only around $10 a month. Nowadays, we also have internet connection similar to a small USB flash drive or USB stick that works as a modem. You can just plug-in to your laptop or computer. It is connected through cell phone satellites so u can get connected with your laptop wherever you are as long as there is a cellphone signal on that area. The good thing is, u can get it also pre-paid so u can limit your expenses and use it only on times that you are away from home. The speed is as fast as 2Mbps. ^^;

Hi, Yes it is a broadband connection given by a service provider. They downsource from a major provider and then outsource to lesser users at various speeds as per their requirements and charge accordingly. They have different plans at different rates. Thanks for your response.

I use a broadband connection which gives me 1MB speed, it's damn fast and I have unlimited downloading, so i download the files in gigabytes(GB) very fast without any problem, and i pay Rs 2000-(approx. 24$), I can say that i have the best connection, and i haven't seen so much internet speed at any of my friend's house.

Hi, Hey thats great and downloading files in GB is a good idea to enhance speed though I am not sure about your cost factor, which I feel is a little on the higher side. I guess if that is the standard package then there is nothing one can do about it, lol. Anyway thanks for responding.

We have high speed internet. I don't know how much it costs but I think that it is together with the phone bill, though it's not dial up. I think that it's around $50.00 but don't quote me on that.

Hi, A high speed internet is always preferred when you work online and have paying sites to cater to but it is advisable to understand the cost factor too. Not being a dial up connection would mean the net is connected to a broadband service provider who is also your telephone service provider. The problem here is that you never know when one service hikes up a tariff to make up for a loss of revenue from the other, which in reality could be the result of your diligent effort to save up on some much needed dollars. After all a dollar saved is a dollar earned. Thanks for your response.
