http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/20654283/detail.html Mega Life & Health Insurance is a SCAM. They take your premium & don't pay out. They have been banned from the state of Massachusetts. They are being prosecuted in 29 states. They will not be allowed to operate in Massachusetts for a minimum of 3 years & will have to reapply for a business license at that time. Have you done business with Mega Life & Health Insurance??? If so, were you ripped off??? Tell us your story!!!

29 States.. sure a lot there.. I can only imagine how the members whom have taken up the premium account must be feeling. Hope they do get their money back..though unlikely, I suppose?

That's about 60% of our country finding fault with them. Those scammed will NEVER see all their money back. Most won't even see a little bit. I was involved with a scam company a few years ago. There was this big deal about how they were going to be punished!!! When all was said & done, I received one month of payment, yet I had paid for 12 months. So, I only received about 8% of my money back. I had already dealt with being ripped off. After receiving only one month back, I had to deal with being ripped off again!!! It was frustrating!!!

Thanks for the heads up..I think that they shouldn't be able to reapply for a business license since they scammed people and ripped them off.. I think they should get shut down permanently.

That's one thing I don't understand...I rob you, I go to jail; a scam company robs you, they just get a fine & NONE of the money goes to you!!!

I have never heard of this place until now. I think that is horrible that they did this to these people. I hope they never get a business license ever again. They are a scam and they should be put under for good.

Holy moly. I've never heard of this company but isn't it amazing how more and more places are turning up to be scams. I heard not too long ago a supposed well trusted debt agency proved to be a scam as well...we're talking about 1,000s of people who were desperate to settle their debts honestly with this company and now they, the company is under scrutiny

A lot of the debt collection agencies are SCAMS!!! They take the people's money & NEVER pay it to any of the creditors. Then they charge to take care of the bills. Most people end up even MORE broke & still owe what they had when they started except for a few that has added more penalties & interest!!!

When I was married we had Mega Life insurance and it did pay out but it's minimal at best. Then when I was divorced I got it but it was $350 a month and when I found Aetna I switched right away! $160 a month for my individual coverage and with my recent appendectomy I'm sooo glad I got it!! Aetna has been wonderful! I can't say Mega Life is a scam but their rates are high and they don't cover much. I wasn't satisfied with them and self employed people have a lot more options than that company!

No wonder they can pay millions of dollars in fines without blinking. At $350/mon that $4,200/yr per person. If they only get one percent (profitable percentage now days) of the population, that's over $12 million per year. Who knows how long they've been doing it??? From what I've read, they've gone from paying bare minimum to almost nothing!!! Mega has the absolute lowest rating given out by the Better Business Bureau due to a list of complaints longer than both my arms!!!

I don't know that I've heard of these companies or company but it's sad when an insurance company scams you. Though in many ways, people believe they already do with high premiums, etc. Glad you're spreading this news! 29 STATES! Goodness Gracious, great balls of fire!

I had not heard of them until I was reading various news sites. There are a lot of rip off insurance companies coming out of the woodwork with the rise in premiums & so many people out of work. They offer low rates & big promises. This company has made enough that they've paid out over $17 million in fines & they continue to function. I hope enough states fine them to the point there is NO money left for them to operate. I think it is terrible that anyone could do something like this to their fellow humans!!!

this happened last year when my mom and I went to an insurance for the call she receive from an agent that she knew personally. so, we went there, and inquire for simply just a student insurance, we thought it was free when the staff simply just asked for the credit card..that's how i think we got screwed up..from then on we never believed on any insurance..

Very few things in life are free!!! I can remember when insurance was a good thing, but those days seem to be long gone. Medical costs have gotten so high, I can understand why the premiums are so high. I do notice they don't mind taking our money, but they never want to pay out!!!

I was an agent with this company and can tell you first hand that it is a rip off and not competitive. I was told to not look at the competition and to just sell sell sell. Once I realized that what I was selling was garbage I left the company. I then found out that I was paid in a %12 loan for the money that was advanced to me, and my commission on back end business was cut in half so that this debt would not be paid off. I was a top producer in my office, got all kinds of praise and I left the company owing them over 6,000 bucks! They are such a scam.
