In an ideal world that is not what it should be like. But then we need to realize that when they sit like that spending time doing nothing, it only means that the management has not given them enough work to do. Not many people will go and ask their management for more work, if they have less work, right?

that's why you go to office. to get paid for ur time sitting around there and showing like you work because if you want to work then why do you go to office because people don;t go there to work so it's perfect to go there and get paid for ur time. Time is the essential and equals to money so don't waist it.

There is no difference between an employee wasting time on the clock and an employer purposely shorting a person's paycheck.

Hello aamir, Your post made me laugh. Because this is so true. I think almost in every office this is happening. Well, maybe if you are a call center agent, this is not the case. But mostly in office and other government agencies this is very, very common. An employee spends 8 hours at work, five or six days a week, so probably, most of the work can be done, in half a week's time especially if there is no deadlines to meet for that week. so the rest, would just be spend idly or for some would be spend wisely by posting in a forum like this.

I don't blame them. Some job like in IT Dept require demand from others. If there's no demand, then there's nothing to do. I don't see that as fair or not. Everyone has their own job. Just because they're lazing around when you see them doesn't mean they're not doing their job. Being active only when your boss is around is normal too.

Sitting idle and dont be active when the boss is around means that one may or may not have any work but in my case I am not habitual to be active even if the boss is stood near me because if I dont have any work to do thats why I am sitting idle and lazily and I want my boss to pay attention on me and assign me a work. I often do not minimize the facebook or other social page when my boss arrives because I always had a justification that doing something is batter than doing nothing

I wont say it is unfair. The environment sure did effect his daily office life. If he/she have more tasks, they should have been more occupied. Many job didnt require much things to do at office. Here, government office, is one good example. In general, you get paid with or without work. All you need to do is show your face in the morning, and walk home after passed the working hours.

Hi Aamir, Sometimes, it's not the fault of the employee, I know sitting there but with nothing to do is a torture, sometimes, I just have nothing to do, and I find hardly I can get the day over, it's actually waisting the time of myself.
