Dear lolter We all are know that the present situation is totally different from earlier. Presently we all have to contribute some thing to save power for our next generation. Honestly share your views that how many of us are trying to save electricity. Are we follow the same 1.Switch off lights and fans when not required.2.De-dust lighting fixtures to maintain illumination.3.Select iron boxes with automatic temperature cutoff.4.Replace conventional regulators with electronic regulators for ceiling fans. There are many more

Power is always needed by human race to keep on progressing and we as normal usually need them for our daily needs. Its been some kind of an harassment when the electricity gets cut off.We also have the need to conserve it,even if we pay bills for the power we use,in terms of light,water,etc,... There are so many good points you mention. Our computers can have an LCD screen for less power consumption,we can use bicycles to go to near by places that also makes us healthy, the leaking taps can be also closed for less consumption of electricity in pumping motors, well only talking in terms of electric power one mustn't go for high power rated electronic goods like woofers of speakers, heating goods, but until they get an better replacement it will surely continue.

I never meant to say that we 'shouldn't conserve',its always better to conserve more than the time we actually use it.Happy lol

I'm concerned with saving money right now so I do all I can to avoid paying more than I should in electricity. One thing that reduced my bill by $40 is unplugging everything when I'm not using it. Lamps, the toaster, the microwave, telephone extensions, the second computer, etc. You won't believe how much that saves! When something is plugged in it draws current whether it's turned on or not. So unplug everything that is not in use--you'll save money and conserve energy!

Conservation of energy is a must, as it is required by our future generation. I know a great person who loves nature and eco friendly. Though he got money and facilities to draw power to his house, even now he uses candle lights during nights, during full moon day he wont even use candles. I also contribute to save the energy by using only tubelights.

I don't know how much i can contribute to my country in reducing power use. I use a little electrical device that use huge amount of energy - refrigerator, small tv and pc. I use my pc to earn money - so i cant really helpfull here. A refrigerator that I have is small - one door type. my wife spend a little amount of time in front of tv as our daughter love to play outdoor rather watching tv. A lamp may be - i use small 8 Watt in 5 slot soo its 40watt power usage if all is on - at night only a front door light is on... I dont know if I have participate in energy saving that way.

Hello my friend rajupaul Ji, At citiozen's level, there could be more, but at Govt's level, lot of power is wasted by keeping street lights 'ON' in broad day Sun-light. Recently UP Govt. reduced in hrs for shopping malls and put restriction for use of illumination on marriage party and such otehr similar gatherings. As an individual , we can use 'CFL' bulbs a swell. If one remmebers simple rule, 'DO NOT USE, WHEN NOT REQUIRED' will help to build up more power. May God bless You and have a great time.

Hi Rajupaul. Yes, I am making concerted efforts to cut back and save on many of the energy sources. I have electric heat, and wear warmer clothes in the winter as I turn down the thermostat. At night, I turn it down even further. I also lowerd the temperature on my water heater, turn off lights that are not needed, etc. In nice weather, I hang clothes outside to dry rather than running the electric dryer. I think it will require all of us working together globally to conserve power. Good discussion topic! Karen

Wow! oh, my that's really hard, not using electricity at your fulfillment. i thought you guys already had Nuclear Power??that is so weird for me. India had advance itself already, hmmmmppp, i f we were only allowed to use a nuclear reactor, things would have been different than just paying high electric bills. well, anyways, good luck to your country...I just hope, there would be a next generation to mine

yes i do contribute to saving power. i have replaced all conventional bulbs with compact fluorescent lamps. and also replaced my CRT monitor with LCD. but the irony is that even when my consumption had gone down i still have to pay more because there is now a minimum bill amount that has to be paid even if your consumption falls below such amount. the price i have to pay for going green..??

Yes I am very cautious about switching off the lights ,fans and electricity in the house in general when no one is using it or needs it mostly because I don't want huge bills as I am the one who has to pay those bills:)

yes. we turned off the switch which is not necessary. like lights out in the morning. open the curtains so that sunlight will come in. when the laptop is fully charged, we pulled the plug. tv can be turned on by remote control, we turned off the power button directly. we also unplug airconditions when not in use coz it helps to slow the electric meter. I do basic things such as switching off lights, not leaving things on or plugged in etc. but I am sure there is a lot more I could do, and am just trying to learn about this. My one pet rant environmentally speaking is plastic bags, as they are completely unnecessary and stay in landfills forever, or thereabouts, so I do always use my reusable bags at the store.

EnglishTeaDuck Good friend we all are doing a great job let us do it more to save more. What do you say.

This is a very important thing for all of us and our next generation to do - to conserve energy. There are many people & nations who don't understand its importance and are still going greedy with their energy consumptions and wasting other important resources like water. Why ...lets talk about ourselves first. US contributes 30% to the global warming. Our vehicles are much bigger than what is used in the east. They consume more fuel and give less mileage. Considering the price at which we can buy fuel, its almost peanuts relative what our eastern friends buy petrol at. We are a nuclear capable nation and we sent so many ozone depleting gases through our tests and usage of these arms. The amoutn of plastic and other non-perishable waste like eletronics are thrown out mostly by us. Where as in the east, our friends are doing comparatively much better. I am not blaming anyone or any country. Its just that if everyone keeps their house clean, the whole community will be automatically clean.

Dear friend Yes we cannot understand the value of the power saving and we are very late to understand if we don't initaite any action right now then we will purely create a ditch for our future. Thanks for your valuable coments.

I freeze in the Winter and burn up in the Summer to save energy and money. I also recycle even though I have to cart it somewhere because there is not curbside recycling where I live. I work at home and thus drive less than 3,000 miles a year since I only go out when necessary.

Best as I can. I turn off all lights from the room before I leave them unless someone else is there, keep track of the amount of time I'm in a shower of bath, when brushing teeth only have the water on to rinse or have a cup already filled (some people leave the water on the whole time). Also unplugging things that are not in use. I did not know before that even if you have them turned off they are still drawing power. If only I could get over my little fear at night I could also turn off my tv or radio but I have to have those or I can't sleep at all :S

Definitely.I swith off the lights and fans when I am going to leave the room.AndI don't use air-conditioner except the temperature is beyond thirty- five degrees.I buy eco-friendly bags, not plastic bags.We should not take it for granted that the earth has unlimited resources. And the global warming acts as a revenge to the human beings. We who want to save the earth should take instant actions chances are that the situations will become better.
