I know the WHYs behind it, but it's still funny to me...

Ever drive into a neighborhood and see those Neighborhood Watch signs warning robbers or other criminals that they shouldn't mess with THAT neighborhood? I know it's there to discourage crime, but I always chuckle to myself at the thought of WARNING someone that they'll be watched. Wouldn't you maybe even want to catch people in the act so they can get locked up? I know -- safety schmafety...... It's good to have neighborhood watches and other programs. We have both a neighborhood watch and also security vehicle that drives around the entire new community around the time of dusk to dawn, which is good. Do you have any of this in your neighborhood?

I'm glad u have that kind of security in your neighboehood. U may not think it pays off but it very well could. I live in a cove w/just 4 houses & we try to look out for each other but bad things can happen w/out anyone knowing what's going on. stay sahe. Have a good weekend.

I remember when I was little, some 30 years ago, our neighborhood had a neighborhood watch. Back then there weren't any signs posting it. It was just a group of grownups that would walk and drive around the neighborhood at night to make sure everything was alright. I remember my dad belonged to it for a little while. It's interesting though, now whenever I happen to be driving around a neighborhood that has the neighborhood watch signs up I never seem to notice anyone doing any watching. I think some of those signs are up just to try and deter criminals.

I think so as well. We do have a lot of nosey neighbors, though -- that can help deter crime LOL!!

We have a neighborhood watch sign up around our apartment complex. Supposedly it consists of members of the apartment complex. But I can guarantee you we don't really have one. I know the intention to have one is there. I do believe originally there was a meeting about it, but no way do we actually have one.

I suspect that's how it is in many of these places. I am not sure about ours, but as I said, we do have the security vehicle that drives around the community each night from the Homeowners Association... Plus, see post below... Nosey neighbors... Can be bad but also there can be some good to them being nosey as well.

My neighborhood has a security guard that drives around the area and it also has a neighborhood watch program in effect but it doesn't seem to work though cause there is still crime being committed in the neighborhood.

Yeah they have one of those signs up around the apartments up the block from my house. I have never seen a vehicle riding up and down the complexes like your neighborhood does.

Hello my friend Bethany1202 Ji, Well we have street patrollars and in area police cars to patrol. however, crimes are on increase. last night, one car parked on the road side was found without it's two wheels away from road-side. So my son kept his car inside our house parking as a precautionary measure. Crimes are on increase. May God bless You and have a great time.
