Serves my kids pierogies for the first time tonight

and they loved them. My son has already requested them again sometime. I have always liked pierogies, so I am not sure why I have never tried them on the kids before tonight. I have not had them in a long time though so I guess I just never thought of them. Do you like pierogies? How do you serve them? I had the potato and cheddar ones and I boiled them, then baked them with a little butter and Parmesan cheese.

My mother made lazy pierogies when I was a child, containing basically noodles and sauerkraut in an oil or butter sauce. Imagine my surprise when I had the real ones at a Polish restaurant a couple of decades later (potato and cheese.) They also served another version with ground beef, but I preferred the potato and cheese.
Then a while back I found frozen pierogies; just thaw and boil. I suppose for a truer version one should at least saute them before serving.
Dang, now I am hoping to find a Polish restaurant here ...
