Routine health check. How often do you do it?

I was having a conversation with a friend of mine and she told me that she has just gone for her routine blood test. Another friend of mine told me that she is scheduling an appointment for a pap smear. That got me thinking, I am not doing anything about my health! I am not going for any blood test or any routine check. Even cars need some kind of maintenance from time to time. I think I need to go for some kind of check up to see what's the status of my current health soon. What about you? How often do you go for a routine check up?

As for me I go for routine medical check every 2 years. It is paid by my company. It is only for staff who has worked for not less than 2 years and it is not cheap either. They called it Health Screening and costs more than S$300.00.

James, You are lucky to get free health screening. They only allow you to do it every 2 years or is it your choice to have it done every two years? Yes, I know it is costly. That is why I respect certain companies that gives good health benefits to their employees. Thumbs up to your company James!

submerryn.. we always think that we are healthy as long as we do not face any issue or signals from our body, soul and mind ya.. even myself, I seldom really do a check up on my own.. All I can say is I think I have a good insurance agent which she will reminds me that each time, I will need to go for my annual check.. however, when come to the 'female' check, I usually do it once a year.. and thank goodness for this practise, or else I may not be able to find out I was preg too.. I think it's suggested that we visit the dentist twice a year, and the annual check up to be done to our body...

cwong, If not for the test you wont know that you are preggers. And nine months later, your princess suddenly pops out and calls you mommy! lol.. It's great to know that you have a great insurance agent there who truly cares for you and not just for your business. It's hard to find one that has those quality these days..

Hi Submerryn, Your situation is same with me. I have not been doing any body check-up for so long.I remember my very first and last check-up is when I was in my primary school. My dad wants all my family members to have a full body-check up. As my ages is catching, I really need to have a body-check up to make sure I am healthy. But at the same time, I feel scared to know the outcome of the check-up,in case, something wrong with me,what should I do and can I take it.It is a kinda of headache whether should I go for it or not.

I thought u were talking about me, cos i went for a blood test just few days ago. My test results will be out next week and I pray that everything in my body will be fine! Generally, young people can do a blood test every 2 years and paps smear done yearly. It is advisable. So when are u going for one?

The last time i had a check up was last year. The cholesterol level is still good, and so is my weight. I've not made it a habit to go for regular check ups yet, but I've to start doing it at least once a year.

Hei Kev, Once a year is too hectic for me. Maybe I'll get it done beginning of the year. Then the whole year through will be so busy and without realising it, another year has gone and it's time to get another health screen. It is suppose to be that way, but sometimes, humans (such as me) are just too lazy. I just need a kick on my butt to do certain things.. I have to keep reminding myself not to take things/life for granted. But it's great to know your health screen came back good!

Hi as per my doctor's advice, I go for a routine check up once in year. Blood, urine, kidney function. BP, ECG everything. Once it is done we can feel relieved once the report comes out normal.
