I love hearing stories from parents about the crazy things their kids did as a child! Some grown up or teenage kids hate this but it is part of life! Every generation goes through this! I even have been embarrassed by my dad! I got over it! Alot of the stuff parents embarress us are to be vicious! Parent love to do because to make other people laugh and remain other future parents it is ok to do this! It is part of life!

LOL my mother has one story she likes to tell everyone. I'm 32 and she's still telling it to new people we meet. I say " Gosh mom don't you ever get tired of telling that" then I smirk because I know it makes her happy to get her revenge on my me for my childhood behavior LOL. It is indeed a part of life. In fact when my boys do something memorable I tell them "uh oh there's one to tell the future girlfriends" ROFL My oldest is 14 now and he looks at me and says "you wouldn't" I just giggle LOL. It's kind of a tradition now it seems that goes back many many generations.

Now that I've gotten older and have 4 grown nephews I like to bring stories about what they did as kids! I don't do it on purpose but it is fun to to! My nephews usually just roll their eyes at me when I tell stories!

Maybe your parents embarrass you sometimes according your perspective. But they didn't do it in intention, maybe they didn't even aware of it. Nonetheless, they are still our parents, trying to understand they love you more than anything else. Respect them that is what I am trying to say here.

Most of the time parents don't embarress their kids on purpose! Mine never did!

You are right. Each genration does it. I find myself saying the same dumb stuff to kids that my parents said. "My! How you have grown. I remember when you were a tiny baby." Some stories bear repeating like the time my daughter and her little felloow 5 year old friend destroyed my bathroom by smearing every ounce of makeup I owned on every wall floor to ceiling. My husband's aunt tells about the time he and his cousin had a water fight with "balloons" they got out of my husband's Dad's night stand. That was priceless." I hear my son saying things to my grandson that I said to him. I have to laugh. As I spoil my grandson, I tell my son it is revenge. The cycle repeats itself. LOL.

A lot of great memory there, isn't it? I love those memories too, not too embarrassing, but it is fun for everyone here to hear. I don't find it embarrassing at all honestly.

My parents don't do that too much. Once in a great while... It's both of my aunts, my dad's sister and my mom's sister that bring up "remember when..." stories. Most of the time I don't but for some reason the fact that I don't remember the story makes it that much funnier, which frustrates me even more...

I don't think that every parent is in intention to embarrass their children. Their act might embarrass you, but what they done just in good intention. Trying to understand them a little bit better.
