Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer?

It looks like a contradictory statements.But there is truth in them.What is meant by" keep your friends close" is you trust them and confide in them and thereby they become close.You can share your secrets with friends so that you get some relief from guilty feeling. Similarly you share your pleasant memories and pleasures with friends so to have a feeling of joy.You should behave like one man though you are different souls and different bodies. That is what is meant by .. keep your friends close.The the other part .. keep your enemies closer.The real and inner meaning is keep close watch over them and closely observe their movements which are harmful to you and so that you can exercise caution or plan counter action.You act as if he is your friend but do not believe him since he is dangerous to you. That is why they say "keep your enemies closer"

Very good advice. How could you go wrong with it? You know what your friends are going to do but you don't know about your enemies. What is an enemy any way? Is it someone that just has a different point of view that you do.

uhmmm.... i don't think i can handle being much closer to my enemies rather than my friends... it's very hard on my part to forgive especially when the mistake is very much unforgiving... :(

sounds good ... but, I think it's better to keep your friends close and your enemies as far away as you can. If you've managed to somehow make a real enemy out of someone I would run, fastly, away from them. Cuz, they probably have total revenge on their mind. For those who we just generally don't get along with ... I would stay away from them because they, along with your really good friends, have the most potential to become your real life enemies.
