When you choose a perfume, you are expressing something about the way you want to see yourself or your "fragrance personality". Do you want to feel fresh and clean? Exotic and energetic? Youthful or woman-of-the-world? Each type of scent echoes a certain mood or personality. Here are the types of scents and the characteristics they emit to help you choose what are most suitable for your needs and lifestyle. FLORAL SCENTS: reveal a very feminine character. FRESH AND CLEAN SCENTS; Fresh perfumes are particularly suitable for the younger woman. Though still floral in character, they all have a distinct "green" scent. (usually obtained from the citrus family) :are good to wear to perk up your day. :for those youthful at heart SPICY SCENTS: (Most great perfumes fall into this group) Women who wear spicy scents have more of the sexy side in them and wear the scent to be remembered--- they're more of the sexy and powerful type WOODY SCENTS: suited for people who loves the outdoors The most important thing in picking a fragrance is that the scent should meet your individual needs. Consider which parts of your personality you want to bring out with the scent you choose... Perfume scents are powerful. It can influence one's mood or disposition simply by triggering memories that are most likely associated with the perfume scent. perfume scenta are also very similar to fashion. It is a way of expressing one's self. I own several perfumes...however, the most that I use are: Lacoste Touch of Pink (alternately with banana rep) Banana Republic Classic (my everyday perfume) Gap Dream (during evenings) I do have Clinique Happy too...as well as some Victoris Secret scents... I still have a little of Tommy True Star (i feel so bad it was discontinued).... most of the scents I have are mild...some are fruity... I guess because of my wash-and-wear personality... I love scents that I can wear anytime no matter what the ocassion is.. and they have to be subtle as possible... Light as they are, i get a lot of compliments when I wear my top 3 fave perfumes... What perfumes do you love to wear???

Hello my friend I have never thought about this, I also love victoria secret most of the scents they have actually, I use to love to wear red a long time ago not sure if you ever smelled that one, Paris Hilton has a great scent out I love it, I like to wear oils as well, really love baby powder so help me understand what does that say about me? Paris is soft and really mellow not loud like I would have thought I don't like wearing perfumes for this reason they are too loud, I do know I like mist and soft scents oils are great they seem to last really long as well. I have a thing for men cologne my brother wears some really nice scents and depending on how much I like it I will spray some on my wrist just so I can smell it from time to time lol I may be a mixture of floral/spicy sounds good to me lol Great post my friend taught me something I did not know, thanks

Hi kitty my friend!!! There's a lot of scents from Victoria's Secreat Lines that I'm very fond of... they work great for my body chemistry and they staying power is good... i get the body mist for around $9 so the price is not bad for mists that lasts me almost the whole day(not bad for body mists that works like a perfume) I remembered smelling the Paris Hilton on Marshalls last May... and it did smell good. I didn't buy one for myself though coz I spent money already for my signature scents and I was afraid to spend money to try on new ones which I am not sure would work for me... but i kinda like it when i smelled it.. i guess how you don't use perfumes that much shows a lot of your simplicity as a person...you enjoy life for the simple pleasyre it offers and don't ask for more... always goes back to how a great person you are my friend..

I have always been a perfume lover, there a lot of scents you mention over here, the best one's are the fresh and clean scents, also the hard and tough one's.Usually I go with the fresh one's,it always make on feel the beauty of fragrance the all day long. The stressed situations always demand these sort of fragrance other than the hard smelly one's. In cases of parties and all the hard smells are perfect no only to maintain the mood but to get us a lot of attraction.I have several perfumes, actually can't remember their names, but they all are very different I their scents. The best I feel is a green colored one that smells of lily or something that of fresh fruity smell.

hey there tint... i would understand how a lot of people could wear their scents and not remeber it, coz not everybody is as crazy over perfumes as I am... but it's good you have preferences over clean scents.. they are good for daily wear and even on warm weathers.. i personally dislike strong scents as it gives me instant headaches.

I also get the headaches when its the hard smelling scents, the party one's ,the rough and tough aroma makes one even go to sleep and that's the greatest disadvantage of the perfumes,I must say.

I don't wear perfume much because I just can't afford it. I admit that I do like curve but I ran out and was never able to replace it. So what I wear nowadays is a body spray. I love body sprays. They are fairly cheap, give a shot of scent without being overpowering, cool you off when it is hot and they smell good. My favorite is Hawaiian Ginger by Calgon. It smells wonderful. I always get people asking me what it is when I wear it. In fact, that's how I discovered it too. A waitress was wearing it and I asked her what it was and then I had to buy me some cuz it smelled so good!

I have worn Curve once and never re-purchsed after i used up the first bottle. it is nice, but a little strong for me...very clean smell though. I heard Calgon has nice scents,i haven't tried any from theit line.. I usually get my scents from Marshalls (oh they sell Curve there - the whole set for like less than $50-- or much cheaper i guess)... you can buy scents there really cheap..then i bring them all home to the philippines... i make sure i stock up enough to last me the year or until the next time i come for a visit.. perfumes here are exopensive and i only get to splurge when im in U.S. coz they have a lot of sale...

Hi patofgold, Wow you really know your scents girl! I'm impressed...I love perfumes but I will say that my pet peeve is when some people feel they need to spray the entire bottle on them! Yuck! Gives me such a headache. Ok favorite perfumes...I love Euphoria by Calvin Klein, Lolita Lempicka, the newest one by Narcisco Rodriguez that i have, Storm ( British one), but I have to say that my all time favorite perfumes are by Joe Malone. It's a British line available at Saks, or you can buy online as well. Anyway there are about 30 different scents that you can mix and match. My favorite one is the fig which has notes of chocolate in it. I guess my favorite scents tend to have notes of vanilla or chocolate in them. A few years ago I used to wear Angel by Thierry Mugler, the one that looks like a star? Well, that one is supposed to be chocolatey, but I kind of gave that up since it gave my husband headaches when I wore it. What does that say about me that I like to smell like food? I'm not really one for anything too floral y, too spicy because like I mentioned, most perfumes give me a headache. Oh yes I do also like Victoria Secret scents also, Clinic Happy I like on some people. The next perfume I'm planning on getting is by Perry Ellis, forgot the name but it's the new orange bottle. I tend to pick perfumes that are maybe less common so that I don't smell like everyone else, probably why I like Joe Malone so much.

hello there ily... you know about perfumes more than i do.. I only stick to what best suits me..and i've been wearing the sames brands for the past years...i am afraid of trying new scents. I have never tried any of your pperfumes..but certainly i am not into Vanilla scents..the only vanilla that smells good to me is the Vanilla Lace from Victoria's Secret. I have smelled Perry Ellis (men) from my brother, I am sure the woman version must be good too... I love scents so much as long as they're mild... i got migraines too so I have to stay away from strong scents...

I like things like cinnamon, but I'm allergic to most perfumes so I don't wear them - and I'm one of those who's chemistry changes the way scents are on my skin so when I do wear them its on the clothing
• Philippines
7 Sep 09
since you like cinammon, do you like vanilla scents too? most of the scents now are made not to stain our clothing, unlike in the past... when it gets hot though, i turn to my body splash or mists... i use mostly Victoria's Sectret.. they're always on sale lolz........ but they're good

i like some of AVON scents. Imari for example. I also like vanilla. So I try and find those scents when I can.

hi ers... I have tried the Imari when i was younger and never had it again. it had been soooooooo long and it's one of the scents in Avon's line that had stayed..... i am not so fond of vanilla except the one from Victoria's sercet lines... we just have different preferences and it has something to do with how the perfumes react to our body chemistry or something.

hi patof gold23 I love floral scents that are delicate and linger'but do not sending people running away out into the street because my perfume overpowered them. I love WindSong, and Shalimar, and White Lilac ase they are delicate and sweet and flowery they linger but do not stress out anyone.

I usually buy the oils because they last so much longer without having to reapply. My favorites are Ratsa and lilac. I also have lily of the valley, african musk, jasmine and chinese rain. I started selling avon over a year ago and have gotten a couple of perfumes from them. But like i said i love the oils better.

I love a variety of scents. A musty, sensual one that I use for formal nights out is Coco Chanel and Coco Mademoiselle. For daily fragrances I stick to types like Juicy Couture, J. Lo, and most of all my personal favorite with its vanilla fresh floral scent is Lancome's Hypnose. It smells so unique.
• Philippines

oh my goodness... how people could have different preference from each other..... coco chanel and coco mademoiselle are the ones I do not like the most.... they don't work well for my migraines..i find them too strong..... and they leaves some yellow spots on my clothes.... the lasting power is good though.........it's so hard to get rid of the scent... i ouldnt finish one bottle of any of chanel's lines. Juicy Couture, J. Lo sounds interesting but I haven't tried that or smelled from anywhere..but if it is ebdorsed by somebody like J.Lo..then it must be good.

It seems like you have been selling perfumes to us. Complete names and a lot of signatures. A friend of mine gave me a D&G Light Blue and i have not used it once because i swear to myself that i will only use when i have already a job. The other perfume i use is also from Gap's touch of pink. I use it when i get out of the house. But my everyday perfume is Bench's baby cologne Popsicle. I totally fell in love with the smell the first time i bought it. It's cheap and very fragrant so i use it for everyday use.

I love a fresh floral scent that smells like springtime just after the rain. Sounds picky? Yup, it sure does. I especially love the fragrance of gardenias because it's just so crisp and light. It seems funny to describe a scent in that manner but it totally is. It isn't overpowering like roses or lavender, but it's still girly and makes me feel fresh all the time.

elenyae, I've always found that anything gardenia scented is strong and overpowering to the point it makes my eyes water. It's funny how we all have a different take on smells, eh?

Pat, before anything else, I hate Tommy Hilfiger. I don't use brands from him. About my favorite perfume, I like perfume from Pink soda. I wear my everyday perfume and that is Dream Angel Divine Perfume from Victoria Secret. I want the Fresh and Clean Scents. I don't want the scents that make me puke when used all day. I don't want strong perfumes, they are the perfumes that irritate my skin and leave uncomfortable feelings. Actually tha tis the perfumes that leaves awful smell after using for a day. I will not share the names hahahahahaha.

The majority of the scents that I find myself drawn to are the fresh and clean family. Most of the time, all of the scent that I use comes from the shower gel and the shampoo and conditioner that I am using. I can't exactly explain why, but I am not a fan of perfumes. Right now I am using Bath and Body Works Tangerine Mango shower gel and my shampoo and conditioner is tangerine Suave. I've gone through a lot of scents over the years, but I think that the reason that I am sticking with these is because my husband says that it all smells very good on me.

Hi doran... we have the same preference..clean scents are what works best for me.. Bath and Body works are great product and like Vikkie's line you would almost wanna buy the range of scents they offer cos they all smell good......... But most importantly...stick to what your husband likes best..that's all that matters right?
