Anybody making money from google adsense?

I've been signed-up with adsense for a while and in the early days I read a book called the AdSense code to give me advice and pointers on how to make it very effective. The suggestions lead to a LOT of work in making my web site very marketable and interesting and a lot of hours spent learning SEO and doing yet more modifications to my site but at the end of it...I might have made a few cents. I admit, I did eventually get tired of keeping the site going and have allowed it to slide into obscurity. Anybody else got good or bad experiences to share or advice to give?
