I'm really pissed, so back off............

For the past couple of days I've been fighting a cold and dealing with a migraine. I'm ok online, but don't come to my front door with nonsense and stay away from my dog! You see, I have a new neighbour. They bought the lot next door and have parked their RV on it and are building a shed. No problem with that. I met them a few weeks ago, and the woman and I talked about the town and such, and eventually got around to talking about our dogs. She has a lovely 14 year old female Spaniel/Retriever cross, Sasha, who happens to be shaved to the skin (like why?!) and deaf. Of course, I have my 3 year old Collie/Sheppared cross, Spunky, who is not deaf and not shaved. Long haired dogs shouldn't be shaved unless there is something wrong. During the course of exchanging information about our dogs, I told the woman that we don't feed our dog scraps or 'treats' (junk food), but just steak bones, Milkbones and her regular food. so please don't ever feed her anything. As a result her teeth are perfect (no tartar), she doesn't beg, she doesn't steal food, her coat is shiny and she's very healthy and well mannered. I thought the damn woman understood me! Today I look out my window and there she is, standing at the gate to Spunky's dog run, leaning over it, practically falling on Spunky's head. I can't see what she's doing though. So I watch, and finally she moves enough that I see her giving Spunky some kind of food. I knock on the window and Spunky drops what's in her mouth and looks up at me. The woman turns around and waves and yells in my direction, "Oh don't worry I'm just giving her the fat I cut off our pork roast". Like WHAT?! So I go outside and scoop up the pieces from the ground. Spunky wasn't sure what to make of them I guess, and I know she wasn't used to such a texture or taste, and she hadn't seemed to have eaten very much. The stupid woman stood there babbling about how she feeds such things to her dog all the time and her dog is just fine, well except for her constant constipation, urinary infections, bloating now and then and on and on. I didn't say a word while I was cleaning up the scraps. She then babbled about how sorry she felt for Spunky because she never gets any treats. Like how would she know? Spunky and I have a routine every night with her Milkbones when I bring her in for awhile. Believe me, she gets her treats! Finally I stood up, looked her straight in the eye and told her to "Shut It". She stopped talking, but couldn't seem to close her mouth. I stepped towards her, pulled open the top of her shirt and dropped the pieces of fat down inside. Then I asked her why her dog was shaved. She got so confused she just stammered "Because her hair was falling out" To which I said, while she frantically dug out the fat scraps, "And why was her hair falling out?" "Something in her diet the vet said" she tells me. WELL NO BLOODY KIDDING! "And how often did you feed her nothing but fat scraps?" I asked. "All the time, I think they're good for her coat". "Well obviously not, you stupid woman, if the dog's hair started falling out and you had to get her shaved and she can't take a sh*t!" The look on her face was priceless. It was like a penny dropped. She'd not told the vet about her 'treats' I guess, but I know from experience that feeding some dogs too much fat, especially pork fat, will cause their hair to fall out among other problems as they get older. I backed her up to my willow tree and told her if she EVER came near my dog again, I'd shave HER BALD so she and her dog would be a matching set! She's still hiding in her RV and Spunky will stay in the house until they leave, other than to go out the front door with me and in the opposite direction from my neighbours for her daily/nightly runs. Lesson learned. Don't piss off the Sparks when she's feeling like crap and fighting a migraine! LOL So. Would I be justified to just shoot this stupid woman if she ever steps foot on my property again?

What do I do with this pork fat now Sparky? Do you come with a Government Health Warning?! LOL. I kinda feel sorry for the woman living next door to Attila the Hun's sister! Now when you come here, please feed pork fat to our neighbour's brats, I mean sweet little boys. Maybe it'll quieten them down!

LOL. What a DUMB BROAD! I hate it when people just DON'T LISTEN.. You couldn't have made it clearer than you did the first time. My S/O is like that. He thinks he 'knows better' and just does whatever he pleases. My housecats never ate scraps nor begged for anything. But he has turned the pair of them into beggars and it irritates me to no end. They now realize that it is only acceptable with HIM, as I have told them off when they have tried to beg from me. I guess that is why people put up fences. To keep nosey, busybody neighbours OUT. Paint a little "No Trespassing" sign and put it in the ground on your property line between your properties. Then, you can charge her legally if she crossed that "LINE". You could even put up a temporary 'string line' on your property line, to indicate where the "Line" is. That will make it clear that you are considering putting up a fence and it will mark your territory, too. Cheaply and quickly. You may also want to add to the "No Tresspassing" sign, "perpetrators will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law".

She usually sits out on her little 'deck' beside her RV in the morning with her coffee when I take Spunky out of her run. This morning, she was still IN the RV looking out the window. Doubt I'll have problems with her again! LOL

You take care of yourself too! I'm eating chicken soup so much since it helps the congestion...I'm going to turn into a chicken...Take some garlic pills might help you too and don't forget good old Vicks Vaporub--I've been putting that on my chest before I go to bed

I made fresh garlic butter the other day and have been having it on my toast with my tea. It's helped some, but then the weather changed and it's been damp and humid so that has set me back a bit.........

My neighbors dog has leukemia and he is on a special diet. He just had to have a part of his liver removed because he ate too much of something he wasn't supposed to while his owner was on vacation and he was being watched by his grandson. I don't feed my rottie pork/pig anything unless he will be spending all of his time outside or else I would have to follow him around with a can of air freshener. I say shoot her and bury her under the foundation for her shed. Then maybe her dogs hair will grow back.

You are completely justified! It's not like yo didn't TELL her in advance NOT to do it, you DID tell her and she freaking did it anyway! SHe's lucky you dind't mop the floor with her. My dog Maggie (God rest her sweet beautiful soul) had severe food allergies, she couldn't have pork, eggs, chicken, barley or peas and would get very ill if she did. one of the consequences to eating things she shouldn't was that her hair would fall out. Maggie was a golden retriever mix, and I have heard these types of food allergies are fairly common to that breed of dog, your idiot neighbor's dog probably has a similar allergy which explains all the symptoms. The allergy tests for Maggie were over $400 but worth it to find out what was wrong with her and how to help her. I bet your neighbor has not had those tests done, and is probably making the dog sick. Even without food allergies, dogs have special nutritional needs that cannot be satisfied on a diet of mostly people scraps. A treat once in a while, fine, but only IF the dog is not allergic and only if they routinely are fed stuff that is HEALTHY for them. That lady will be lucky if you don't report her for cruelty since she is making her dog suffer needlessly.

She's damn lucky in a way that I DID have a migraine. Otherwise I would have been able to move MUCH faster and she'd be dogmeat by now! LOL Spaniels have sensitive systems too, so her dog is a double whammy of potential problems. She told me her dog only had these problems because she was old. Maybe..........but old or not, common sense should still come into play. Won't happen with this woman though. She once brought me some pears from the Okanogan Valley in B.C. and told me because they came from there, they would reverse the affects of my stroke. Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, thank you very much. LOL My heart goes out to you Mare for the loss of your precious Maggie........

I'd be lost without my Spunky. Hubs could do without her, but I can't........... I even thought of putting a halter on her and taking her on the plane as my 'seeing eye' dog, so my son could spend some time with her (they are so bonded after his being here), but I figured that could get me in a lot of trouble! lol I'll probably miss her more than hubs while I'm away. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh, don't tell the hubs! LOL

The only thing I've ever heard of pears being able to reverse the effects of is constipation. LOL Thanks for the compassion about my Maggie, I still miss her terribly every single day of my life. SO do the other dogs and the cats and my daughter who saw Maggie pass.

LOL funny but I wouldve done the same...well, okay may not that straight forward but you get the drill. I love my dogs like theyre my own kids so I hate it whenever someone does something that can potentially harm them. I am particular about what they eat, play with and I make sure they get their shots/dewormer, etc. They are well cared for. I've had the experience of some unruly kids throwing scrap bones over the fence to feed the dogs. At one point, it was a candy bar and thank goodness I saw it before my dogs got to it. I was so mad i opened the gate and cursed the living crap out of them but then my family told me not to do that because they might poison our dogs. People can be so stupid

Hi rg. Welcome to the lot. Yes indeed people can be stupid and it makes so mad when a person or animal is put in harms way because of it. Spunky would have been sick for days if she'd eaten that fat. I doubt my neighbour would poisen her in retaliation for my actions, but I can see where in some places that would be a real possibility. Scary huh?

Hi and thanks for responding. I live in 2 places. I was born and raised in Hong Kong but I have been living in Manila for months (flying back and forth) because of my job commitments. In Manila, or in the Philippines, most people don't care about animals. Some even laugh when they know how much I love my dogs that I treat them like my own children. To them, it's a very odd thing and there are so many people out there who just wanna hurt an animal just for kicks. My friends there have had their dogs poisoned and kidnapped (killed for dog meat). It's scary. I am very short fused when someone tries to hurt anyone in my family, not limited to my kids (the dogs). Chinese folklore says it's because I was born in the year of the Tiger but anyway... I get pissed but its hard because I dont want to make enemies and have them retaliate on the people/animals that I love. I think if your neighbor still is THAT dumb and clueless you might have to have one of those in-your-face discussions. I am glad your dog is okay. It's really nice to hear stories about how people really care about their pets. Thanks for sharing.

Pork fat? If you look around the dog food aisle in your local supermarket, they have all kinds of dog food - beef, even chesseburger, chicken, turkey, but if you really take notice, there's no pork. I heard that pork can make dogs sick, & that was why pet food makers stopped making & selling dog foods containing pork & bacon. Probably after dropping it down you should have probably used your arms & hands to keep her from trying to pull it out of her clothing, & maybe even patting her where the pieces were to - so to say - rub it in.

OMG!!! I bet that woman can't pack fast enough to get away from you LOL Seriously, I can see your point here. Some ppl don't realize that ppl take care of their pets in their own way. As long as the pet isn't being abused or mistreated then ppl should mind their own business. Five bucks says she will never, ever feed another persons dog again and she will never, ever, ever forget her encounter with you! ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

You explained that giving the fat to the dog was why the hair was falling out. She's staying away from you - and your dog. Maybe she'll actually find out from her vet that the fat isn't good for her. Our dogs and cats are given very little of the fat, more so the dogs if so, but hardly even once a week, more like once a month...

I used to have a Sheltie. My ex-mother-in-law absolutely ruined him feeding food fried in oils and butter and lard. His hair fell out, his eyes and ears got gummy and his digestive system was totally bunged up. Within a year of being with her for only a few months, he crawled off to die and we found his body under the lilacs in the Spring. That's why I never, ever feed any of my animals anything but pet food and milkbones.

If this woman is not afraid then she is number than she appears to be because I got fearful just in reading this. I have to say tho that I don't blame you one little bit. I don't currently own a dog because where I live does not allow pets. I do know a little bit about dogs as I grew up always owning a dog and belonged to a 4-H for years where we learned so much about all sorts of things...including animals. There are certain things that are especially bad for dogs and it amazes me how ignorant so many people are to this. I work in a store and I get wild about the people who will come in daily and buy their dogs the little beef jerky treats. They are so so bad for their digestive systems! You tell them this and they just blow it off and buy them anyway. Pets are similar to kids. They are an addition that you choose to enhance your family. She had no business ....no right whatsoever to take it upon herself to give your dog anything without your permission. The fact that you had a conversation with her regarding this only makes it more enraging. I feel your anger, sparks.

I agree sid. People need to KNOW the needs and specifics of their pets. To just 'assume' this or that is ok, is almost criminal. But when other people totally ignore your request not to feed your animal anything and then they do.......well in book, this woman got off easy. She's actually lucky I had a migraine and could barely move! lol

Hell hath no fury then a woman fighting a migraine! Wow! That must have blown her mind! So is she planning to build a house? You have a house right? Idk... I'm confused! lol! Good going with her though, and Spunky seems very well trained to have dropped the food and look at you... Not eating anymore of it! We feed our chihuahua's human food, but we respect others who don't... we wouldn't give their dogs or animals anything that the owners didn't want to feed them... It's common courtesy to ask the owners first though! Hey, make sure she doesn't try to slip spunky something while your gone somewhere or not looking!

I have a house, yes. They have the RV but are planning on building a house on their lot in a few years after he retires. Right now, they're building a shed and getting the water, gas, electrical and phone lines laid in. It's mess over there right now. I'm sure she'll stay off my property from now on though and Spunky will be down south with my hubs while I'm away, so no worries there.
