When you work hard for something you have a sense of achievement...

I have noticed that when I get something easy , may be some article that I have desired or money ,it doesn't have the same value or impact as something for which I have had to really slog. I feel that when we have a set goal and work towards it and finally achieve it we feel fulfilled and there is a greater sense of achievement than when it is easily attained.I know of a family who won a lottery and blew it up on trivialities and are now slogging hard to make ends meet. But when I asked them why they dint invest the money wisely, the answer was ' It was afteral a lottery, not to be taken seriously, so we just enjoyed and spent it ....I was amazed at this. What are your feelings friends ?

Hi Kiran. Been awhile since we talk. That's certainly a very different way of looking at things. Different in opinions and views, I guess. I would opt for saving money anytime, like saving for a rainy day and stuff like that. If there is no money saved, then one day when we are in trouble, we can always fall back on our savings. I am totally against spending it all, be it winning a lucky draw or money that I've earned.

Hi zed, I ve been away visiting my daughter and travelling to Germany and Switzerland . Now glad to be back on mylot. I totally agree with you. Had I won lottery or anything , the first thing I would do is to put it in my bank account and invest in a fixed deposit. But some people are really strange where finaces are concerned

So that's there you were.. awesome, you must have had a great time, I'm sure... I answered this after I've commented on your answer to my discussion page, so now I've learned that you've been traveling. Cool.. Fixed deposit sounds like a good plan.. it's a very good way to save.

Hi Zed I had a great time visiting places , yes I agree putting money away in a FD is a sure way of keeping temptation out one's reach lol. I am not a great saver, so I have to think of ways by which I am able to check my instinct Have a geat day

I agree with you on this. I think that it's nice to reap the results of something that you really have worked hard for. This relates to me in terms of study. I have taken two IT courses over the course of two years and I have to say they were really technical and there were times when I just wanted to give up and quit as it were. However, I thought hard about what I was doing and what my goals were and this helped me to keep pushing forwards and studying hard. There is a great sense of achievement once you achieve the goal and then you can start moving on towards the next goal. I think that was quite irresponsible of the lottery winners! They should have invested the money wisely, if they had done that they would have had to work again, and I sure do like the sound of that. If I am ever lucky enough to win the lottery that's the first thing I will do! I will research on how I can invest the money and make it work hard for me in terms of growth! Andrew

Hi Andrew, thanks a lot for your views, it is nice to hear about your achievement and hardwork. I am sure it makes it worthwhile and gives you a lot of confidence in yourself. LOL I felt the same way about the lottery winners ! I just couldnt believe that people could be so laid back and foolish !

Their responding statement to you, about where the money came from, reminded me of some scriptures, where : some men were given money, to see what each would do with his share. One invested wisely; one foolishly spent; and still another buried their money in the ground. Each had consequences attached of course. The one that invested, did make more money; the one that hid their money in the ground, didn't make any profit; and the ones that spent foolishly, were without. So it is important, to use our money wisely, regardless of the source that it comes from.

Hi Shirley, I would completely agree with your views. Making money and earning money is never easy, and, when you have a spot of luck like winning a lottery, one should be glad of the given opportunity and make the most of it. Bt thee is no tellig for human taste

Hi Kiran, How are you? Hope you are doing well. It is true that the result of the hard work can give some more satisfaction. If we get it easily they we may not be realize the value of the result. I think the same thing happened with the person who got much money on luck. The example you have given an apt one for your discussion. When he becomes rich in one day he didn’t realize the value of money and forgot to save something and now struggling.

Hi Sreekala, I am fine Thank you , have been away visiting Switzerland and Germany. Yes some people are not able to make use of the opportunities presented to them and make the most of it.I think one should be wise and use a little common sense , by making use of every opportunity that life presents to us. At least try to do our best, instead of wasting such moments..

yugasini, same here. I too have had my share of ups and more downs I must say. The only thing that life has taught me is to become more positive with each negative experience lol. I have also learnt that one has to make the best of each day with regard to anything that life offeres to you ..

You are absolutely right in this point. This applies for everything in life, even for getting a girlfriend. When I was in school, there was a girl, after whom I went for a long time before she said yes to me & I suffered a lot before getting her. There was another girl whom I proposed& she said yes immediately, here I think I was much more happier in getting the first girl rather than the second one. Whatever it may be, money, position, better life or anything, we feel happier when we get it after a hard work Happy Lotting
